Raven watched as snowflakes tapped the window of the Locksley-Mills household. The temperature was freezing outside, but inside the manor there was a warm fire and the smell of hot cocoa filled the house.

Reagan sat curled up against her older sister, Raven, who was getting ready to read the younger girl a story.

They threw a blanket around themselves and Raven settled the storybook between her legs. "What story do you wanna read, Reg?" She asked the five-year-old, alrrady knowing the answer.

"Um... The one about the thief and the queen" she grinned flashing her dimples and revealing a small gap where one of her front teeth used to be.

Raven chuckled. "Again?"

"Yup. It's the best." Reagan answered, blue eyes sparkling.

"Okay..." Raven turned to the page in which the queen met her soulmate. Raven's chocolate brown eyes scanned the pages as she wondered when her sister would figure out that the story was real.

"Once upon a time, in the enchanted forest, the woman once known as the evil queen arrived next to her former enemy, her stepdaughter." Raven started.

As the story continued, the older girl's  fingers unconsciously played with her sister's curly blond hair. She was careful to avoid names, knowing that would ruin the magic. She finally arrived to the part of the thief's death.

"The thief stepped in front of his queen as the flash of lightning shot out of the crystal. It hit him square in the chest. He turned around to face his soulmate one last time before his body fell to the ground with a Thud, but his soul stood in front of the queen, shining with blue light as if he were a ghost. He reached out to touch her cheek and brush a tear away from the queen's cheek, before his soul trned to smoke and flew away in front of his soulmate's eyes."

This was tge sad part of the story. Reagan always got sad when she read it, even if she knew hat came next. So Raven read the part where Hades was defeated as fast as she could, and brushed a black lock of hair behind her ear when she finally arrived to the part her little sister was waiting for. "The queen never lost hope. If she had learned one thing about hier stepdaughter, it was never letting hopelessness win. She leaned down to kiss him one last time. As soon as their lips connected, a bright light erupted them and sent a wind all around them. The thief gasped for air as his eyes shot open and he looked at his queen."

Reagan grinned at her sister, meeting her chocolate brown eyes, silently telling her to continue. Raven smiled softly, and turned back to the book, but before she could continue, another voice finished for her.

"The thief and the queen faced many challenges after that, but they always managed to stay together through all of it. They lived happily ever after, but it still wasn't a happy ending, because endings are always sad. They had a second chance, and gladly took it."

The voice came form the doorway. The girls looked back at their parents, their mother leaning against the doorframe, their father's arms wrapped around their mother's waist.

Reagan grinned and jumped up. "I looooove that story" she beamed for the millionth time. "We know" Robin said as the little girl clashed into his leg. He ruffled her hair.

"It used to be my favorite too, you know?" Raven informed her.

"Really?" She wondered.

"Yes, she was very exctied when she finally figured out-" Regina cut herself off.

"What?" The younger girl inquired.

"Chocolate anyone?" Roland came in to save the day. He was carying a large tray with five cups of steaming hot cocoa topped with cinnamon.

As everyone took their hot chocolates, Regina couldn't help but notice how much her family had grown. She was the happiest she'd ever been, and it was thanks to Robin and their kids.

Maybe everyome had been wrong about villains never getting happy endings. Or maybe, life didn't consider her a villain anymore. Either way, she would not complain.
