Finding Out My Power Level

"Wand less Magic? it has never been done before in wizard-kind but I do recall James telling me that only the strongest of veela can perform the ancient art. The only wizards that can do wandless magic is Dumbledore and Voldemort and they can't even be counted as wizards because technically they are low-level mages ".

"What is a mage, Uncle Moony," I ask curiously.

"You don't know what a mage is?", he asks surprised.

"No, should I?," I say a bit worried.

"Well every child grows up knowing the power of wizard-kind.Its a wonder that you don't know know what every magical child in England knows from birth. Oh right, you were raised by muggles that explains it. But shouldn't of you read about it in the muggle-born/muggle-raised handbook?", Remus replies a bit confused.

"What is the muggle-born/muggle-raised handbook??", I ask getting more and more confused by the minute.

"Dumbledore told me that he had informed you about all the things that you would need in your first year of Hogwarts. He told me that he hand given you the muggle-born handbook in person. He told me that he has been watching over you when you were just a child, making sure you lived in peace and happiness. 

But from the few things that you have told me about your childhood, i'm starting to think that a happy childhood is not what you have experienced. Oh no, Dumbledore has lied to me. LIES, I say LIES", Remus growls his eyes starting to take on a amber hue meaning that his inner wolf was coming out to play.

"Calm down Moony, calm down. What happened in the past stays in the past. Now tell me about this 'powers of wizarding-kind".

"You're right Harry, I should calm down but sometimes that man makes me so mad I can't help it. The powers of wizarding-kind is really just a spell that determines the magical strength of a wizard. There are four different levels; wizard, sorcerer, mage and warlock. In each level there are three different stages. 

They are: low-level, mid-level and full power. To know where your magical strength lies you have to cast the spell ' magicis vires' which translates 'magical strength' in Latin. This spell creates a target that measures your strength by using special runes that have been pre-carved around the edges. You must then cast the spell ' metimur puella mea' pouring as much of your power into the spell and after five minutes or so it should rate your strength with a number that tells you what level you are. This practice has been forgotten among most and the ones that do know about it can't really be bothered to try it", Remus explains.

"Moony, do u think that maybe I should try out the spell to see what level I am?", I ask curiously.

"Great idea, Cub", Remus replies getting excited.

"Moony, do you think I should do it with my wand and then without it to see if it makes a difference in my magical prowess."

"Yeah, I think that will be an interesting experiment, Harry", he says.

I stand up and cast the 'magicis vires' spell and while I wait for the target to fully form I turn to Remus and ask him what I think is a very important question;

"Moony, what's your level?."

"Well Harry, I've never actually done the spell before", Remus admits blushing.

"What?!?!? Let's do it together, then", I say getting even more excited than I usually was.

Looking up at the target I realize that it's ready. Gesturing at Remus that he should go first I step away to the side and watch a look of concentration come over Remus's face. 

Focusing on the target he lets out a loud 'metimur puella mea' a dark amber spell came whizzing out of his wand tip. When making contact with the target the target let out a swoosh. After a while a number came floating out of the target and rested in the air. 735 .

"What does that mean Remus?", I ask confused.

"Oh right, I forgot to say. 1-200 is low level wizard, 201-400 is average or mid-level wizard. 401-600 is full power wizard. 601-700 is low level sorcerer, 601-800 being sorcerer. 701-750 is mid-level sorcerer. 751-800 is full power sorcerer. 801-850 is low-level mage and 851-900 is mid-level mage. 

901-1000 is full power mage. 1001-1200 is low-level warlock. 1201-1500 is mid-level warlock and 1501-2000 is full power warlock. I know for a fact that Dumbledore and Voldemort are the only living low-level mages. The only people to ever be apart of the warlock section is the four founders of Hogwarts, Merlin, Morgana and the three Peverall brothers.

"Wow Moony, congratulations!", I said to a shell-shocked Remus.

"Wow, just wow, I can honestly say i'm surprised. Wow, wow", he said still in shock.

"Gosh Moony, you're starting to sound like a broken record playing, saying wow so many times", I smirked at him watching his face colour in embarrassment.

"Oh very funny Harry, look it's your turn".

I walk a little bit away from Remus and cast the spell first with my wand. To my surprise it once again didn't work. Completely stunned from shock I turn around to look at Remus with a curious look on my face.

"I have no idea why your wand isn't working for you anymore Harry, maybe you should see if it works without your wand."

"Yeah, ok," I say.

I drop my wand to the floor and concentrate on my magic that I can feel simmering beneath the surface and focus with all my might on the target. With a shout that made me glad there was a silencing ward up I yell 'metimur puella mea'. 

Floating above the target was a glimmering 2000. I'm pretty sure I just went into shock. I look over at Remus to see what his reaction was and saw that his jaw had dropped and was currently imitating a goldfish. After a minute I can't contain myself and I burst out laughing. Remus snaps out out it with a surprised look on his face.

"Oh my Merlin, Holy Mother of Merlin, Merlin's Beard, I can't believe this is happening. Only you Harry, only you would be able to pull off a full 2000 on a wizarding strength test. Only you."

"I'll take that as a compliment", I reply unsure.

"Gallopin' gargoyles Harry, look at the time it's been 2 hours since we started talking. We better get going, you have to go back to the Dursleys and I have to go back to headquarters, the next guard shift will be in the next ten minutes. 

Tomorrow you should go to Gringotts using the Knight bus, just ask for the Potter Family Goblin called BloodDagger and ask to take an inheritance test. Anyways it was good catching up with you though, we should do this again next time, yeah?", Remus says.

"Yeah sure Moony, see you next time", I say while I wave him goodbye. I wait until he has apparated away and then I slowly make my way back to the Dursleys. Tomorrow I'm going to go to Diagon Alley and take the inheritance test, whatever that means. Once I get back to the house I decide to go to sleep earlier than normal, seeing as the Dursleys haven't got back from where ever they decided to go. That night I fall asleep looking forward to what tomorrow brings.
