Her Inked Heart

Chapter 4

Getting ready, it didn't take Clara long, since she just tied her hair up in a large bun, but making it look cute. She also had put on a cute sweater, jeans, and boots, the perfect outfit for fall. The sun didn't come up yet, but it was rising. She looked at her phone, the time saying 5:48 AM. It had been months since she was up that early, but she knew that she could also go to bed early.

"Hey, Lauren," Clara says, Lauren lying on the couch, "You're up early."

"I haven't gone to bed yet," Lauren says, "Nathan and I were out late last night."

"I don't want to know," Clara says, quickly interrupting Lauren, "It isn't my business to know about your love life and what you and my brother do."

"Fair deal," Lauren says, "Have fun today."

"Thanks, get some rest," Clara says, leaving the apartment.

It didn't take Clara long to get to the roads. Lauren had called her brother, David, to pick Clara up so they could get to work together. It was pure luck that they were co-workers.

"Hey, Rockstar," Clara says, David sitting in his car, a cup of coffee in his hands.

"This is for you," David says, "I even made sure they put Princess as the name."

"Thanks," Clara says, taking the coffee into her hands, "Let's go get this over with."

David started driving, Clara sipping the coffee. Even though it was going to be a long day for her, at least she didn't have any clients coming in that day, so she could just go take care of her mom.

"All right, your lease has been renewed," The landlord says, "You guys make great business here, keep up the good work."

"Thanks," John says, before the landlord leaves, Clara exhausted from lack of sleep, "Clara, get out of here, and go rest up."

"I can't, I need to pick up my mom from the hospital," Clara says, "She broke her leg yesterday evening. If you need me to come in later, let me know."

"Of course, wish your mom our best," John says, Clara waving to them. She begins walking towards Nathan's pub. He usually goes in early just to do quick clean-up, fill out paperwork, and sometimes let him and Lauren have some time as a date, as the two of them were barely able to spend time together on a daily basis.

It didn't take her long to get to the pub, only for Adam to be standing there, Nathan and him talking.

"Nathan, Adam," Clara says, taking another sip of coffee, "Just got out of the meeting with Uncle's landlord."

"Who's Uncle again?" Nathan asks, Adam and Nathan both looking confused.

"John," Clara says, before yawning, "Adam, do you want to drive me to pick up my mom from the hospital?"

"I already did this morning," Nathan says, "Hannah is there with her."

"Idiot, she has final exams coming up!" Clara says, "She needs to study! Adam, can you take me to my mother's house?"

"Of course, come on," Adam says, Nathan banging his head on the door, forgetting that Hannah was having her final exams coming up.

"I'll be over when I close tonight!" Nathan screams, Adam and Clara getting into his car. Clara took a deep breath, knowing that Adam was taking her to another place, just for her.

"Just give me directions and we'll be there in no-time," Adam says, starting the car.
