Testing Day
————————
We all walk into a dark room filled with cubicles but in the shape of hexagons. They each have a circular table and two chairs. Each on opposite sides of the table.

"Whats this?" I ask Charlie. She looks around. "No Idea." She says.

I sit in a cubicle near the back, by myself until the cheeky eyed, blue haired boy walks up to my table.

"Hiya." He says. I wave and put on my best smile.
"Damnit Hormones!" I yell in my head. I pinch myself back to reality. "Hi."

"Attention, all testers!" A man in white appears to be speaking from the devices in our wrist.

"This is your first test. This test will prove if you are stable from a person of your communities eyes. So pretend you are from the off shore meeting an person from the inland."

I look at the blue haired boy and he looks at me.

"Your nemonic devices will help you determine weather or not this person is stable and if they are a good fit to live in the offshore."

He smiles at me and I smile at him. I start to play with my hair like a fifth grader. He looks me up and down.

"Begin!"

There is a thick gap of silence between us, then I start to talk.

"So, whats your name?"

"Teigan."

"Nice name." I say

"What about you?"

"Klynn."

Then we just start talking like we actually knew each other. Suddenly, a hologram pops up from my wrist showing me how eligible Teigan is.
The top of the statistics read:
APPROVED

I wonder if on his side, I passed?
He talked about his wealthy family and how they're always on his back. I told him about my mom and how she's made a living in the inland.
He tells me how incredible that is and how he's had everything handed to him.

"I've dreamed of that life." I say to him, interested in what he says next. After learning being rich isnt always as good as it seems, I just wanna know more.

"It's not at all what it seems." He says, "It's kind of like a soap opera." He says. I cock my head to the side, confused.

"What's a soap opera?" I ask. He chuckles with his sultry, smooth voice.

"What's so funny?" I ask.

"You've never heard of soap opera's?" He ask.

"Obviously not." I say. I feel dumb, and I think he can tell. So he tries to make me seem smarter. I like that.

"It's not a big deal." He says. I never noticed his dimples or his small nose. The sound of the man dressed in all white's voice.

"You passed, and I'm guessing I did too?" I ask.
He nods.

"Times up! Will all eliminated Testee's please step toward the entrance doors, get your clothes and leave."

I look to see who's leaving then I notice someone I recognize too well walking toward the door.

I look around the room to see who was a eliminated.

Then I see her, walking, looking absolutely miserable.

"Charlie, no!" I yell. I run to her my mind erases everything from it and only focuses on one thing: her.

Teigan grabs my arm and holds me in his arms, I fight and fight. I can't go. "Thats not gonna bring her back."

He finally lets me go and I look back at him and I'm kind of ashamed to tell him thanks. So I just walk away.
