I manage to get home without running into Evelyn.

"Mom, I'm home!"

I yell but I don't get a response like I usually get from her.

"Mom, where are you!?"

I yell again and still don't get a response from her. I start looking around the house for her and she is nowhere to be found.

"MOM!?"

I yell once more before I hear a faint sound coming from beneath my feet.

"What the... we don't have a basement, so what sound is coming from under me?"

I say to myself.

"My God, had I realized sooner that this sound is so faint no human could hear it."
"Mom, I'm coming!"

I began to tear frantically at the baseboards of my bedroom floors. There my mother lay as if she were in a coffin but with duct tape and rope wrapped around her neck and mouth and her arms crossed on her chest, and with only one tail remaining just barely. Had I gotten here sooner I could've stopped this from happening, I pull her seemingly dead body out from the floor and remove the tape and rope from her mouth and neck.

"Mom, this is hard for me to ask but do you want me to remove your last tail?"

I look deep into her purple eyes about to cry knowing that if I take her last tail that is barely on her body, she will die by the hand of her own son but also knowing she won't suffer anymore.

"Yes, please end my suffrage. I love you my sweet baby boy and please take care of yourself."

She tells me as tears fall from her face.

"I love you too, mom. Thank you for everything."

I say quietly to her as I cut her last tail from her body and hear her scream in agony. Within an instant it seems, she was gone. My mother was dead and I have her full power but I hold her close and cry into her as her body turns to dust slowly fading away from my arms.

Two days pass and I haven't slept or eaten, I just stay up cleaning moms room and go to school. Three days after my mother's death, the emotional pain has subsided a good bit but it's still there no matter how hard I try to not feel it anymore.

"Hey, long time, no see Caden. How have you been?"

"Oh, hey Evelyn. I've been better, look I'm sorry to cut this short but I gotta get to class." I say trying to hide the frown creeping upon my face.

Evelyn's smile fades slightly but enough to notice. She begins to talk to me and though I know every word, I can't seem to understand what she is saying. Evelyn taps on my shoulder gently and I look up at her instinctively, without realizing what I seem to be doing, I grab her wrist that feels as if it would break under a small amount of presser I pull her to me and hug her tightly. I ask her to repeat what she said."Caden, I said that today is Saturday, is everything okay? You can talk to me and I will give you my life that I won't say a word to anyone." She said so softly in my ear. I can feel her heart beating against my chest as I embrace her, and her arms slowly wrap around my waist.

"It's okay, just talk to me."
