I began to cry in her arms and within a few minutes, I somehow managed to gather enough strength to look up at her, pulling her to the living room and sit her on the couch.
"Evelyn, I want to ask you something." I say wiping away the tears that just fell from my eyes.
"Sure Caden, anything." She looked at me cheerfully.
I looked her in the eyes with a serious look in mine. " What are you? I'm asking because I can feel that your not human."
She got quiet and still, her face had a sad and frightened look creeping slowly upon it as I asked.
"How much do you know, Caden?" Her voice filled with scarcity.
"What, can you not feel that I'm not human either? Or are you just trying to ignore that feeling that you have of me hoping that it wasn't true?" I said quietly and a bit reserved. Twenty minutes pass before either one of us said anything.
"You're right, I'm not human but I'm also not a demon if that's what you're wondering." She said faintly but just loud enough for me and me only to hear.
"I know your not a demon, and I'm pretty sure your not an angel. So, I ask again, what are you?" I asked with a slight base to my tone, which seemed to make her jump slightly.
"I'm a kitsune. I am a trickster spearit."
"Okay, so we are the same thing. This is interesting, her power is much different but the same." I say to myself in my head.
"Hey, I know you heard that, so are you surprised?" Evelyn said followed with a small chuckle behind it.
I said with a small bite behind these words. "Not even the least bit surprised, I'm just thinking about something."
Evelyn seemed taken aback by the words and tone in my voice, she knew it was meant to fursterat and torcher her mind. I laughed when I turned to see the expression on her face. It was so sweet and innocent; her eyes felt so soft and cheerful when she looked at me. I didn't know what to say to her but, all I did was just look at her for a long while. I leaned in close to Evelyn not knowing what I was going to do. I froze, she just pulled me to her and kissed me, thankfully I kissed her back so it wasn't awkward.
"Hey Evelyn, can I show you something?"
I ask in a soft and sensual tone.
"Sure Caden, what's up?"
I stand up and start walking towards my mother's room, and as I get about three quarters of the way down the hall and I turn to motion Evelyn to follow.
