I shut the door quietly as you entered Erick's house, glancing around and walking stealthily to the kitchen where his mother was, preparing the meal that was for Erick's secret birthday party. He was turning 18, and I had planned a party with his closest friends and family to celebrate the monumental milestone. His mom was just as excited as I was, cooking up a storm all day in the kitchen.

"Hola," I said, smiling as I entered the kitchen.

"Hola, amor," She said, returning my smile when she looked up from the cake she was currently frosting.

"Where is Erick? The house is unusually quiet," I joked.

"Ah, I called Christopher and had him get Erick out of the house. They will be gone a while," She chuckled.

"Perfect! I'm going to go decorate and then get ready," I said, watching her nod before I walked out of the kitchen and headed to their spare room.

Gathering all of the party supplies we had bought the weekend before, I slowly distributed them throughout the dining and living room areas.  Balloons and streamers put in the living room. I also set up a table for the gifts.  In the dining room I put a tablecloth over the table, attaching balloons to each end. I also wrapped streamers around each chair.

Once I finished setting up, I  rushed up the stairs and into Erick's room to get ready. Digging through the bag I'd hidden the night before, I pulled out the dress that Erick and I had seen at the mall earlier that week. It was a dark blue, the bottom hugging my curves up to my waist before becoming looser in the top, exposing my shoulders with the off the shoulder style. I smiled while looking at it. Erick had stopped and stared at it, telling me repeatedly that I should get it because he knew I'd look beautiful in it. I had shook the insistence off and dragged him on, before going back later alone and buying it.

Now, as I looked at the dress, I grew more excited for the night to come. I quickly put on the dress. Walking to the bathroom, I pulled out the makeup bag I had also hidden. I applied my makeup, finishing with a nude lip. Checking the time, I saw that it was already nearly seven. Cleaning up my mess, I rushed downstairs just in time to greet the guests that started to arrive.

As soon as everyone arrived, I received a text from Chris telling me they were pulling up.

"Quick, Everyone hide!" I said, ducking behind the couch near the front door and turning off the lights.

Before long, the handle shook and Erick and Chris entered. "Why is it so dark in here?" Erick asked, flipping on the light.

As soon as the lights turned on, everyone jumped up and yelled "Surprise!" As Erick stood shocked. Scanning the room, a smile broke out on his face when his eyes met mine.

"Thank you everyone! I had no idea," He laughed before making his way to me.

"Were you really surprised?" I asked, biting my lip.

"Si," He said, leaning in to kiss my cheek. "And don't think for a second I didn't notice that dress, mi amor. You look lovely," He smiled.

Grinning, I gave him a kiss on the lips and wrapped my arms around his neck. "Happy birthday baby," I said.

"Mm, happy birthday to me indeed," He said, dipping me and spinning me around, making giggles escape my lips.

The rest of the night was spent socializing, Erick's arm wrapped around my waist.  After the party ended, we cuddled together in bed, drifting to sleep snuggled as close as possible to each other.
