~~ Thanks for the comments, I appreciate it a lot. Happy new year everyone. ~~

It had been one hour since everyone had gone. There was no one in the house besides her and Can. It had been one hour since Can saw his mother. After years, she appeared at his door.

It was Sanem who opened the door, she really thought that auntie had the audacity to chase her down to Can's house but then he called her 'mom'.

"Anne"

Sanem froze. It wasn't what she expected. She knew that one day their mother would appear. But not now. Sanem felt fear, everything was going so well but after seeing Can's face when he laid his eyes on his mother. She knew things would only get worse.

It was a mess. Sanem already saw Can angry, when he fought with Fabbri for her scent, when he fought with Emre, but now, she not only saw anger in his eyes but there was fear too. A horrible dread that made Sanem feel a tightness in her heart. There were screams and arguments. Sanem managed to get everyone to leave before the situation got worse, Emre went out with his mother to talk like a beautiful mama's boy he is.

Can went to the bedroom kicking the door hard and then Sanem found herself alone. The first time she met his mother was not friendly. She kicked and muttered horrible things on Sanem street - seriously, a person who does not like animals is not a good person - And then she called her auntie. Sanem really couldn't believe how lucky she was.

At first Sanem left him respecting his time, she cleaned up the house mess and made tea for him but it was an hour ago that he was there, she expected to hear things breaking but all she heard was silence and that was starting to make her nervous.

When she decided to come in, the room was dark, there was only the lamp on. Sanem called his name softly and he didn't answer. Then she saw him, sitting on the floor with his back against the wall near the window.

It breaks her heart. She came as softly as she could and sat down beside him on the floor. They were silent for a few minutes and she could observe his face with attention. He looked at the empty and there were marks of tears at his face. She couldn't take it any longer.

She took his hands and tried to get his attention "Can, talk to me."

The only noise in the room was their breathing as he began to speak softly.

"I was always different, when I was a kid I loved to play in the backyard, jump, run, hang on to things and almost always get hurt. I was the horror of the nannies and consequently of my mother. She fought with me and punished me almost always. Emre was always mommy's boy, he was quieter, he didn't like the same things as me. My dad loved it, he always laughed at me and said I was a kid so I had to enjoy it" Can took a breath and continue. "I really didn't care about the bruises, because I knew deep down all I wanted was my mother's attention. I saw the other mothers walking with their children and did not understand why that didn't happen to me. So when she left with my brother, I just understood. She didn't want me. "

Sanem could feel tears streaming freely as she listened to Can. All she wanted was to hug him but she did not want to disturb his moment. Then she heard.

"My father who worked began to work much more. He spent days away from home, few times I saw him was in the morning when he was leaving  to work again. I had many nightmares, I relived my mother going away over and over again and it fed my mind that I disturbed my family, that I was such a bad person and no one was able to stand by my side. I was very angry because I felt I could not be enough to make my mother come back, that's when I decided to go to boarding school. There I wouldn't disturb anyone so it was the best thing to do.I grew up and decided that I would be a bird out of the cage. I wouldn't cling to anyone, I would fly away, I would know places without having a day to return".

Sanem sniffed when Can finally turned his face and looked at her, he wiped her tears gently.

"I just didn't know that I was an Albatross. That even flying away, he would go back to his partner and live the rest of his life with her. I felt you Sanem, kissed you and knew that love was not to get stuck in a cage, but have reason enough to stay."

Sanem couldn't wait more and hugged Can tightly. She could not believe how a mother would abandon a child, she can imagine all his suffering and the times he had to deal with his nightmares alone. Her anger over Huma only increased but she was proud of him. Pride for what he had become, even in the face of such sadness he knew how to be strong and become the man she loves so much. Sanem would be able to do everything to protect him and would fight for him with everyone who was against him.

"I'm so sorry, for everything you've been through. You're a wonderful person, with a beautiful heart that deserves nothing bad" She pulled back from the hug and put her hand on his face. "I'll never leave you, I'll never let anything bad happen to you. I'm sorry for everything I did, all the problems I caused, you don't deserve that, I.. "

"Hey, sanem, stop .. don't say that ok?" He said as he held her in his arms. "I know I have you now, and I don't need anything else. I know you can kick some ass, including me" Can chuckled. "thank you, I love you askim, having you with me is enough."

Sanem sighed as she felt him kiss her forehead "I love you too."

And so they remained, wrapped in each other's arms, on the floor of the room. Sanem thought there was no better place to be.
