Author's Note :
This is an exercise motto that promises greater value rewards for the price of hard and even painful work, according to Wikipedia. This was also one of the last few stories I did in school before my SPM. My English teacher at that time, Madam R, was adventurous and enjoys giving us a challenge. She gave us 5 different idioms and asked us to choose two idioms and write two short stories for each idiom. Not an essay, but a story. The first thing that came in mind was of course, a story revolving around sports, where the athlete would work extremely hard until victory is achieved. The plot was commonly used and I wanted to write something different. It was also because I was never able to capture the true essence of an athlete training and giving everything he got on pen and paper, since I am a lazy couch potato. However, I enjoy reading history and while we were learning about World War I and World War II, it really opened my eyes to see how much a soldier would sacrifice for the country. This story is inspired by unsung heroes, who do all they can to preserve their country's freedom and protect the people of the nation. I hope you enjoy it. The story you are about to read is not based on real life events.
