-LEVI-
It took all I had to not pin her down and beg for the answers I wanted. Why was she here? And why she was there at the moment of my could-be death? She was in my past, and no one knew about my past.
It nearly felt like she was meant to find something about me.
And as much as I was an enigma, she was an entirely different level. She was the paragon of an enigma.
No one knew anything about her and only went by an alias. I wanted to know more about her. It was dangerous, but she was more intriguing than I thought.
The trial was in a few hours and people were gathering in the court. I was in my office, piles of papers on my desk.
My OCD was telling me I needed to finish these but I really wanted to spectate the trial and see what she has to offer other than a head on a platter.
All of sudden, a lightbulb of an idea spurred in my mind.
There was a knock on the door and I averted my attention towards the person behind it.
"Name?" I cleared my throat and went to my paperwork, sipping a cup of tea.
"It's Erwin, Levi. I need to discuss something with you."
"I'm really busy, and another time is best, but what does it regard?" Rubbing my temples at staring at the two feet high stack of papers.
"It's about Red - and her trial."
I froze in my chair. "Okay. You can come in for a few minutes."
As Erwin opened the door, he came in and took a seat in front of me.
"I'm debating whether to go to see the trial. It'd be pointless. She did something that invoked the punishment of death. It's clearly written." Erwin states.
"There's more than that though. If she goes and testifies about why she did it, there's going to be conflict with the assertions that the community isn't doing well - and well, she's right. There are so many villages that are eating shit. If anything, she might get away with a lifetime sentence in prison." I added, "and I would know about the conditions. I wouldn't be here in the scouts if I didn't trust you. My town is shit and so were the rich people. You know I had lived underground for so many years. I feel as though she might be someone special."
"Like you?" Erwin raised one of his thick eyebrows.
"I wouldn't say that special, but she certainly has something in common with me. She's skilled and she didn't care about it. She's strong because of what she believes in and she's intelligent because she adapts and learns quickly. Yet she doesn't brag or have a smug look upon her face. In my eyes, she knew she was strong and different, but doesn't want to have bad intentions towards anything against our laws."
Erwin had a more convincing look on his, "You talk as if you know her" he laughed, "I might attend - Are you?"
"I've decided that I will be going"
I had a plan. In order for me to learn more about her, I'd need to be close. And the only way I could think of getting close to her is having her join the scouts.
