Naruto laughed, "please. If I was going to do that, I would have done so while you were sleeping like a log." Naruto said, disregarding the fact that he was physically smaller than Itachi and would not be able to move Itachi without possibly waking him up.
Itachi followed Naruto down an alley way, glancing around warily before they came to a cafe tucked in the alleyway, brightly lit yet cozy. "How about some coffee?" Naruto asked, hoping Itachi wouldn't refuse. Itachi tilted his head and lifted his shoulder as if to say 'why not'. Naruto grinned again and gestured for him to enter first. Naruto went to the counter to pick up two menus before heading to the table Itachi picked out. When they were done considering, a waiter was called over. Naruto helped Itachi order, surprising Itachi when he spoke in Venetian perfectly. "You've been living here for a while now?" Itachi asked curiously.
"Nah. Just a month."
"But you spoke so fluently."
"Well. Learning a language is easy." Naruto said, waving him off. Itachi blinked, if he says it like this, does it mean...
"How many languages do you speak?" Naruto paused, he hadn't really counted how many language he learnt. Itachi waited patiently as Naruto stared at the table counting.
"Oh boi. I lost count." Naruto grumbled to himself before trying to start again and then getting frustrated. Itachi searched himself for pen and paper, discovering along the way that he had forgotten to bring his wallet with him. He offered the blond the pen and paper, making him nod with thanks.
Itachi looked on in amazement as the list got longer and longer than he had expected. I wonder if there would be any chance of him becoming a secretary... Itachi's secretary should follow him to every meeting and conference and functions, they would have to be a people person and good at communicating at least. Nahhh. I don't think so. Itachi shot his own thoughts down when he noticed that Naruto looks like he is almost finished as the blond was pointing at each language, counting. "25 languages. I think... well it's more or less here." Naruto said, looking up at Itachi with a grin. They don't even know each other, neither did they exchange names but here they are sitting together for a cup of coffee and Naruto is sharing his accomplishment that no one knows about."That is impressive." Itachi complimented genuinely, nodding at the waiter when their coffees have been delivered. Naruto felt his face heat up at the compliment, ducking his head to hide his smile. The corner of Itachi's lips twitched upwards at the soft flushed look on Naruto, 'that was cute.' The two of them spoke to each other with such ease, it made them feel like they had been friends for the longest time. The conversation was never stagnant and the silences were never uncomfortable, there was never the feeling that those silences needed to be filled.
Naruto slipped away under the excuse of going to the toilet but Itachi saw his striking blond hair peek out from behind the pillar where the cashier is. Itachi let out a soft sigh, how will he ever repay the blond for his bodyguards breaking his camera and now this?
The two walked side by side, enjoying the company of each other. Naruto had to walk Itachi back to the hotel as the man was not familiar with his surrounds and his phone battery was flat. "Your camera looks so special. What model is it?"
"Eh, I don't exactly know... it was a gift from someone who took care of me when I, well, when I was digging through bins to feed myself. I never had much to begin with, don't have much now either but I have learnt that things can be replaced but memories and sentiments cannot." Itachi nodded, agreeing with the blond. Naruto didn't know why he was sharing so much with this stranger but it felt... normal and comfortable.
"How will I repay you for your kindness? You even went out of your way to make sure I don't get robbed." Itachi asked, turning to face the blond when they were outside the hotel. Naruto blinked at the question before he smiled at Itachi.
"How about breakfast?" Naruto asked, hopeful.
Itachi wasn't sure if he had anything schedule then, damn that stupid phone for dying. At the look on Itachi's face, Naruto continued, "you don't have to come if you don't want to. But if you do, I'll wait for you at 9 at the cafe over there." Naruto pointed down the road at the cafe that was just packing their tables and chairs away for the night. "I wouldn't wait long I promise! Maybe an hour or so." Naruto promised when he saw Itachi was about to voice his worries of taking up Naruto's time. Itachi regarded him for a bit before nodding. "I will be there if there is nothing pressing that I need to do." Naruto grinned at him brightly before waving goodbye to him. Itachi gave him a small wave and turned to go back up to his hotel room. He had spent longer than he had planned outside, not that it was bad. The blond provided him with a lot of entertainment, even making him laugh! Nobody ever managed to get Itachi Uchiha to be so carefree.
This blond is an interesting fellow, I wonder if I can find anything about him? Scooping him into the company would do the Uchiha Corporation some good.
