Just realized this... When 9 asks Rose if she wants to travel with him she says no and he leaves, reappearing seconds later. I just realized we have no idea how long he traveled without Rose before deciding to go back and tell her it's a time machine T_T
We run out of the restaurant and down the alley where I parked the Tardis. I'm excited to show Rose her.
I stand in front of the Tardis, but Rose keeps running to a gate that leads to another alley. "Open the gate! Use that tube thing. Come on!" She screeches. Jeez. For one, woman always screech. Second, it is not a tube! "Sonic screwdriver." I say, shaking it in her face.
I hear the Auton smashing the door. It'll reach us in a minute or so."Use it!" She screeches again, still pulling on the lock on the gate.
"Nah. Tell you what, let's go in here." I unlock the Tardis as walk inside, waiting for Rose. Honestly, what's taking her so long.
"You can't hide inside a wooden box. It's going to get us! Doctor!" She shouts. "How many wooden boxes are bigger on the inside?" I mumble to myself. She keeps trying to open the gate until she sees the Auton is almost through the door.
I stand in the doorway, impatiently tapping my foot. She finally runs inside the Tardis, gasps, and then goes back out, circling around it. I smirk. Humans.
The Auton has finally smashed the door and is coming towards us. "Fantastic." I roll my eyes. She starts sprinting into the Tardis as it gets closer to us. She runs into the Tardis, almost knocking into me. "Wipe your shoes!" I point at her muddy feet. She stares at me in shock. Wonder why. I shut the door and run to the controls.
"It's going to follow us!" She argues.
"The assembled hoards of Genghis Khan couldn't get through that door, and believe me, they've tried. Now, shut up a minute."
I start connecting the head I pulled off to the wires and start to explain stuff to her. "You see, the arm was too simple, but the head's perfect. I can use it to trace the signal back to the original source. Right. Where do you want to start?"
"Er, the inside's bigger than the outside?" She says, still in disbelief. It's not even that hard to wrap you're head around!
"Yes." I say bluntly, still grinning. "It's alien."
"Yeah."
"Are you alien?" She squints her eyes at me.
"Yes. Is that all right?" I ask, actually caring about her answer, but I have to pretend not to.
"Yeah." I grin from ear to eat and walk around the controls.
"It's called the Tardis, this thing. T A R D I S. That's Time And Relative Dimension In Space." I proudly explain.
"But, but-" she bursts into tears her body shaking and holding her face in her hands.
I look at her confusedly. I'm speaking English, right? "That's okay. Culture shock. Happens to the best of us."
"Did they kill him? Mickey? Did they kill Mickey? Is he dead?" She managed to say through sobs. I immediately feel bad. My grin fades.
"Oh. I didn't think of that." I admit.
"He's my boyfriend!" She shouts at me. I feel a slight pang in my chest when she says that about her boyfriend, but I ignore it. "You pulled off his head. They copied him and you didn't even think? And now you're just going to let him melt?"
"Melt?" I'm not melting him. Just using him as a auto- okay thats worse. She points to the console and I see the head melting, spreading across the console.
"Oh, no, no, no, no, no!" I yell, trying to get a hold on the signal. "What're you doing?" She asks, watching me fly the Tardis.
"Following the signal. It's fading. Wait a minute, I've got it. No, no, no, no, no, no, no! Almost there. Almost there. Here we go!" I land her smoothly- okay not smoothly, in fact one of my worse landings ever. Actually no, I've done worse. The titanic didn't hit an iceberg, whoops.
"You can't go out there. It's not safe." She shouts as I start to walk out the door. Funny little humans. She doesn't even realize we just traveled to a completely different place.
I walk out the door and sigh. "I lost the signal, I got so close." I say, looking out into the night sky. She follows me out, and looks at our surrounding.
"We've moved. Does it fly?" She asks. Great observation skills. I hadn't noticed we moved!
"Disappears there and reappears here. You wouldn't understand." She might understand, it would just take ages. But I am in control of time, so I guess it could take how ever long I want. This is confusing, even after 900 years.
"If we're somewhere else, what about that headless thing? It's still on the loose."
"It melted with the head. Are you going to witter on all night?" He's dead, can't she understand?
She runs a shaky hand through her hair and nervously laughs. "I'll have to tell his mother. Mickey. I'll have to tell his mother he's dead, and you just went and forgot him, again! You were right, you are alien."
"Look, if I did forget some kid called Mickey-"
"Yeah, he's not a kid!" She argues back.
I roll my eyes. Can they not understand anything? "It's because I'm trying to save the life of every stupid ape blundering on top of this planet, all right?"
"All right." She finally agrees.
"Yes, it is!" Maybe now she'll finally shut up.
"But If you are an alien, how comes you sound like you're from the North?" Now she's insulting my accent.
"Lots of planets have a north."
"What's a police public call box?" She's just full of questions. Maybe if I'm lucky she'll sleep and then I'll have peace and quiet.
"It's a telephone box from the 1950s. It's a disguise." I stroke the console of the Tardis, soothing her telepathically.
"Okay. And this, this living plastic. What's it got against us?" Her eyebrows scrunch together.
"Nothing. It loves you. You've got such a good planet. Lots of smoke and oil, plenty of toxins and dioxins in the air, perfect. Just what the Nestene Consciousness needs. It's food stock was destroyed in the war, all its protein plants rotted, so Earth, dinner!"
She looks at me like I'm a mad man- which I suppose I am. "Any way of stopping it?"
I hold up a small bottle filled with blue liquid, my genius invention. Actually, all my inventions are genius. "Anti-plastic."
"Anti-plastic?"
"Yup. Anti-plastic. But first I've got to find it. How can you hide something that big in a city this small?" Really, theres a blundering' giant transmitter just around here, and I can't find it for the life of me.
"Hold on. Hide what?"
She really can't keep up. "The transmitter. The Consciousness is controlling every single piece of plastic, so it needs a transmitter to boost the signal."
"What's it look like?" Has she never seen a transmitter?
"Like a transmitter. Round and massive, slap bang in the middle of London." I turn around and wave my hand around in the air, clearly not seeing anything.
"A huge circular metal structure like a dish, like a wheel. Radial. Close to where we're standing. Must be completely invisible." Incredible technology.
Rose points behind my shoulder, but I don't see anything. She looks at me like I'm a drooling kid. "What? What?" I still don't see it, but just stares and laughs, still staring at something off in the distance.
"What? What is it? What?" Now I'm confused. What is she seeing? I turn around and look again. See nothing but the London Eye, a giant, circular transmitter!!
I turn back around and grin at her. "Oh. Fantastic!"
