Inspiration: My friend told me a story and oh man, it was super cute and shit and this came from it

Description: It’s been a tough eight months since Luke left for tour, especially being four weeks away from popping out a baby. Boy or girl, you didn’t know, you just couldn’t wait for your little angel to be brought into this world and sleeping on your back possible again! While you’re asleep, Luke comes home early to have a little conversation with your soon to be baby.

The sound of a heavy door being closed was what woke you from your blissful dream. It had been awhile since you’ve dreamt of something that had you smiling as you woke and a warm, loving feeling filling your core. Luke being home was something you’ve wished since he left and dreaming of sleeping in his arms—the way he soothingly rubs your back and leaves chaste kisses across your face, always made you happy. But being woken by a slamming door put a damper on your mood.

Such a sweet dream, you thought, listening closely to the sounds of footsteps and quiet mutters being heard from the other side of the door. A smile soon found its way onto your face as you recognize the voice. To be woken by the real thing.

“Shit,” Luke mutters, a loud thump coming from behind the door. “Where did that bag come from?”

You suppress a giggle by biting down on you bottom lip and closing your eyes gently. The pitter-patter of his feet was all that filled the room as he shuffled over to your side of the bed. You could sense he was smiling down at you, eyes glued to your closed ones. “I’ve been gone for too long,” he whispers, you open your eyes slightly to watch him.

He kneels down next to you, his elbows resting on the bed as he leans over to kiss your cheek. Your heart begins to race and he notices, a light chuckle coming from his chest. “Even when you sleep, I still get the same reaction,” he muses quietly.

You mentally roll your eyes, shifting slightly so the baby bump was prominent. His body turns slightly to the bump, his jaw hanging open in awe as he softly places his hand over it. A happy sigh slips past his lips as he rubs over the covered skin. “Too long,” he mutters, a frown replacing his smile. You open your eyes fully now, hooded by your hair, as you watch Luke stare at your stomach. “I’ve been gone far too long, I’m sorry baby.”

Leaning over, he planted several soft, chaste kisses across your baby bump. A sniffle suddenly came from him and your heart broke. “I’m sorry I wasn’t here for you [Y/N] and you,” he whispered, rubbing an eye as he hand grazed over the side of the baby bump. “I’m sorry I’ve been a shitty father lately, but I promise I’ll be better. I promise you that.”

He sucked in a deep breath, tugging at his lip ring. “I’m going to be the best father you’ll ever have! I’ll take you to the park and you can go on the swings—not now of course, you’ll be too small for that, but I’ll watch you grow into this amazing kid! We’ll do all the father-daughter or father-son things. Like dance recitals and soccer games, art class and karate. I’ll be there for all of it, no matter what because you know why?”

A playful smile forms on his face as he rubs over your stomach. You can’t help the way your lips curve back into a smile, wanting desperately to hug him but waited to hear the end of his little speech. “Because I love you,” he breathed, kissing over your belly button.

“I can’t wait to watch you grow and see what kind of kid you’ll be. I’m going to be there for every step of the way—from your first steps, to your first detention,” he let out a laugh, probably thinking the same thing as me. If our kid hangs out with Michael, he or she will definitely have many detentions. “To your first high school dance, the day you graduate and the day you move into your dorm room for university or college—if you decide to go…make mommy happy and get your degree,” he whispered, laughing.

You roll your eyes, the urge to punch his arm unbearable but you don’t move. His laughing subsides as he lays his head over the bump, listening closely to the heartbeat. “I’m going to watch you grow into this strong, independent, incredible kid and guess what?” he smirks. “I get to call you my kid. I’m the luckiest father in the world to be able to call you my child and I’m going to do everything in my power to be the greatest dad in the world. I promise.”

There was a long pause and for a split moment, you thought he may have fallen asleep. Your hand slips into his soft, blonde hair as you gently thread your fingers through it. “Welcome home babe,” you whisper, his head lifting off your stomach. His eyes lock with yours, a loving smile on his face. “You’re cute, you know that?”

The grin on his face causes you giggle. “I know,” he stretches and you sit up. “And you love me for it.”

“I’ll always love you,” you smile, reaching for his hand. He gives it a firm squeeze, sliding closer to you. “And so will our kid.”

His cheeks turn a bright shade of pink. “You think so?”

“I know so,” you reassure, pulling him in for a hug. “Our kid is lucky to have a dad like you.”

He squeezes you tightly, pulling away slightly to plant a kiss on your lips. “It’s nice to be home,” he murmurs into your ear as he returns to hugging you. “I’ve missed you two.”
