And sorry again for not uploading faster, I had drivers ed last week, then I started school this week, so it's been kinda nuts for me.

Through Fire Justice Is Served

We arrived at the apartment a while later, with me still gripping onto Inoue hand as I led her into it, she barely protested as I dragged her into the apartment and locked the door. Inoue looked confused for a moment, staring at me. She only left the room once I grabbed a pot and filled it with the correct amounts of rice and water, I turned on the stove, and set the pot down on the burner. Looking through the cupboards, I took the plates and cups out and put them on the table.

"Inoue-chan? Come set the table for me please?" I called into the hallway, a moment later, she came out of her room slowly, watching me carefully, like I was going to explode

"Haruna-chan? Are you okay? Do I need to call the doctor?" she asked slowly, setting the table quickly

"Honey, I'm fine. I just have a bit of a headache." I answered, lying through my teeth. The real reason  for my anxiety attack was my upcoming birthday, putting me one year closer to my engagement and eventual marriage. "Go do your homework hun, bring it to the table." I requested, Inoue disappeared and returned a moment later with a book and paper.

"And Haruna-chan?" She asked

"What?" I asked

"You're sparking again." she said, setting her things down on the table and started to do her homework

"Oh," I mumbled, smelling the electricity, immediently taking a breath to calm myself down. "You didn't see anything, right?" I asked her

"See, what?" she asked, looking up from her paper.

"Good child." I said, returning to the kitchen to check on the rice.

I turned down the heat on the stove, taking out a knife, I started to gather some of the vegetables I had bought earlier that day. Cleaning them and cutting them into good-sized pieces, I set them on a plate and found a place for them on the table near the middle of it. I made an effort to avoid Inoue and her schoolwork as best as I could before retreating back into the kitchen. Walking over to the counter, I heard myself sigh before leaning into the counter heavily.

This wasn't me, all of this; the home, Inoue, the steadiness, the constant stream of money coming from my patron; this wasn't right. I didn't need the home, the money, a sister; what I needed was the unsteadiness and unpredictability that came when I had a job to do, which was getting less and less frequent as I accomplished more and more jobs successfully. There was the pride that came along with getting the check, but there was the underlying threat that failure wasn't an option; and that Kazekage would much rather have me dead than a failure.

I pinched the brigde of my nose, as my mind played out several outcomes of that came with failure, most if not all, ended with exile or death. Hearing the sharp sound of the timer running out of time, I jumped and went to the rice pot. Taking off the lid, I saw that the rice had cooked properly, I took the pot into the small living room and set it on the table in front of Inoue. She looked up, noticing the pot, before setting her things on the floor and bringing her bowl closer to her.

I served a portion of the rice to her, then took what was left for myself, "Haruna-chan?" she asked

"What, hun?" I asked, picking up a bit of the rice using the chopsticks

"Did you fight in the war?" she asked tenetively picking at her food

"Which war?" I questioned, looking at her through my eyelashes

"The one that happened a few years ago...I found a headband that had the "United Shinobi Force" written on it, and our sensei was talking about it earlier today..." she confessed

"Yes, I fought. It was a bloody, cold war, that none of us who fought would ever want to experience again in their lifetime." I said sadly

"Oh," she replied

"Inoue, there's no need to worry, I don't think I'll need to fight anytime soon, okay?" I comforted her

"Yup, but aren't you mad I found it?"

"I'm disappointed, but I knew I you would ask me about the war someday."

"Ok."

I finished my meal quickly, feeling the awkward quiet get to me quickly, I grabbed my bowl and the empty plate that I had used for vegetables, and took them into the kitchen where I put them in the dishwashing bucket. Walking back into the room, I took Inoue's bowl into the kitchen and proceeded to clean the dishes, while humming a random song. When I was finished, I slumped againest the cupboard and let myself slide to the floor, sighing as I did so, with one thought in my head,

'What am I going to do?'
