Queen Wasp
"We tried," Queen Wasp said with a flick of her tongue. Her wings were folded back, chest puffed out, like she was on a stage and trying to seem all big and noble. She knew, though, that what she was doing was wrong, was against Clearsight. Fact was, she never said anything about this whole 'we need to be one' thing. Well, maybe she had. But she wasn't about to gloss over that section of the book for the hundredth time this year. "Tell them that we tried, and that the beginning of a great Pantalan war has begun."
Her heart thumped with excitement at the sound of that phrase, of the feeling of it rolling off her tongue. The sound of declaring war! How thrilling is that? And with the SilkWings already under her command, how could the LeafWings win? Once they hear this new uprising, surely Queen Sequoia would surrender, bow down to the likes of Queen Wasp, live under her rule.
The dragons in front of her all stared at her like she was joking. Wasp hissed at them, and they suddenly looked like Queen Wasp was about to have all three moons lift her into the sky in a wonderful show. Not like anything about that was all exciting.
"My Queen, if I have permission to-"
"Yes, Apis?" Queen Wasp asked, already getting ready to hiss. She set her claws on the table in front of her, venomous talons tapping on the wood. Soon you shall be no more, she thought menacingly, imagining the look on Sequoia's face when she stabbed her tail through her heart. The once powerful queen, demolished by a lowly HiveWing. But Wasp will prove the gutsy LeafWing puny and weak. She will crush the green dragoness in her talons, hanging her body on her hives.
"Do you really think this is good? We should try and negotiate more, so we could rule them all," Apis said, setting down a piece of paper on the table, turned it to face Wasp, and pointed to a space on it. "We could have three different tribes with many different strengths under our claws if we don't kill them." Apis then took back his paper when he saw the scowl on Queen Wasp's face. "Sorry, my queen."
Wasp glared around at the HiveWings. "Bring me Queen- er, Ex-Queen Monarch." She licked her lips with her tongue, flicking her wings. Three guards immediately exited the room from one of the walls. Red and orange vanished quickly, but they reappeared moments later with a hissing SilkWing, beautiful reddish brown and orange. The Ex-Queen was throwing a fit in the arms of the guards.
"Are you challenging my subjects?" Queen Wasp hissed, stalking over to the slithering SilkWing. She grabbed Monarchs chin and lifted it so the two were glaring each other in the eyes, both filled with flames. It was amazing to think that a SilkWing so fiesty gave up her kingdom and tribe so easily. Of course, that just made it incredibly easy to tell that inside this dragon before her, was a soft, weak, childish SilkWing that deserved nothing from her subjects. Wasp deserved her tribe. Wasp deserved the SilkWings.
"No," Monarch croaked. "I'm only struggling with them." The shimmering dragon looked as though she was ready to fight.
No, I know you well, SilkWing. You will never be ready to fight. You will never have a fighting spirit. You will never compare to me or my HiveWings. You, are, nothing.
"Well, tell me, do you think that we should come to take war against the LeafWings?" Wasp asked Monarch.
The fiery glow in Monarch's eyes disappeared at that sentence. The fear that radiated from the Ex SilkWing Queen made Wasp's decision even easier than it already had been previously. So once Monarch could give Wasp her answer, Wasp threw her against a wall.
"No!" Monarch had exclaimed, her head jerking back in fear.
"Too late," Wasp said, taking the SilkWing's head and aiming for the wall beside her. The rest of Monarch's body followed, slamming into the hive wall with a crack. Blood trickled from Monarch's forehead, down her cheek and past her lips. The orange and brown dragon lay still.
