Before we get started, this chapter was HEAVILY inspired by a KageHina doujinshi called "Little Crow" or "Ritorukurou". It's super cute and I recommend reading it if you're a fan of Haikyuu and ship KageHina! Now on with the one-shot!

This takes place in Iida's 3rd and final year of middle school!

Tenya's P.o.V

'I knew applying for U.A was going to be difficult, but not THIS difficult."  I complain in my mind, tapping the eraser end of my pencil lightly against my chin. It's my last year in middle school, which means that I have to start filling out applications and taking tests to get into the greatest hero school in all of Japan; U.A Highschool. And of course, since the acceptance rate is slim to none, the applications are no easy task. I let out a slightly frustrated sigh, but as soon as I'm about to start writing again, there's a small knock on my door.

"Come in." I answer the person knocking as I put my pencil down on my desk. The door of my room opens, and my mother pokes her head through the opening.

"Tenya, honey, can you please take out the trash?" My mother asks me. "Of course, mother." I reply, standing up from my chair. My mother opens the door completely and starts walking down stairs. I quickly follow behind her, making sure to close my door once I'm outside my room. We both make it downstairs and walk into the kitchen together as I see Tensei sitting at the dinner table and my father getting out cooking ingredients from the refrigerator.

"The trash is right over there." My mother says, pointing towards the corner of our kitchen where two full trash bags are sitting, "Thank you, Tenya."

"Yes mother." I say, walking over to the trash and picking up both bags.

"Once you get back inside, wash your hands and get ready for dinner." I hear my father say behind me. I turn to him and give him a small nod while putting on my shoes, before going to the back door and sliding it open. I speed walk over to the trash can and lift up the lid, then throw the bags inside the dumpster. I turn around to walk back, but then I hear something whimper behind me. I stay still for a little bit, waiting to see if my ears were just mistaken or not. Apparently, they were right the first time since the sound came back. I face away from my home and take a peek at the other side of the dumpster to see something.. odd... laying there.

Some kind of (H/C) puppy is leaning against the big green bin, looking as if it's asleep. However, for some reason, it doesn't appear to be in good health at all. Bits of its fur has dried-up mud on its ends, not to mention some being on its face. And since it's whimpering, I'm guessing it's hurting somewhere.

I reach out to pick it up, but stop myself immedietly. 'What if it has diseases? I can't bring an infected animal inside our home! Not to mention mother and father doesn't want us having pets. But... it's hurting. What if it dies out here? If I can't save one dog, then what qualifies me to save an acutual human?'

I rack my brain around, trying to find out what to do. Suddenly, through the corner of my eye, I spot the ladder my family keeps outside in case something got stuck on the roof or in the trees. Seeing the ladder gives me an idea.

'I can seek it into my room through my window! That way mother, father and Tensei won't see the dog!'

I quickly scoop up the small creature in one of my arms, holding it against my side and dash across the backyard to the ladder. I grab the ladder and jog to the back wall of the house, right under my bedroom window.  I open the ladder as best as I could with one free hand. Once I set it up to where it was stable enough to hold me, I climbed up its steps, being extra careful not to drop the puppy. As I reach the top of the ladder, my ears pick up the sound of the back door sliding open. My eyes widen in panic, fearing that one my family members will see me sneaking an outside animal into my room. I swiftly push open the window and lightly toss the small dog onto my bed.
