park ri-na

she lazily pushed the shopping cart forward, throwing useless, fattening food inside.

"i don't have a boyfriend to look good for," she told herself after adding chocolate to the cart.

she looked at the small list her mom jotted down for her in a rush, her eyes scanning the horridly written items.

she turned the cart towards the 'frozen' section, a content sigh on her lips.

as she reached forward to grab a bag of peas she felt a warm hand touch hers, she instantly retracted her hand looking at the bag of peas in confusion.

"ri-na?"

she met eyes with you. her heart stopped in her chest and she slowly backed away.

"i-i — i'm sorry," she mewled. she tripped over her own feet, landing ironically into a section of organic peas.

you smiled slowly, your earring dangling as your head tipped back to show your chiseled chin.

her face felt like it had experienced the art of sun kisses.

you offered her a hand, which she slowly accepted.

"are you okay?"

she nodded keeping her head down.

"do you need these peas for your behind?"

she instantly raised her eyes to meet his.

"yah! you're not funny." she retorted, as she took the peas from his hands. "but my mom needs them."

she watched your face distort, your smile vanished and you placed your hands back to your side.

she noted that and gave a small smile.

"thank you," she bowed, allowing her hair to cover her face. "i'll see you again someday."

you bowed as well.

she bit her tongue, cursing herself for using the word 'mom' in front of him. she didn't know the situation with you and your mother, but she knew it wasn't well.

"i'll say better next time."

-but she knew all along.
