I was sitting in my "throne" (that was really just a recliner with a giant snake on it) when Claire finally showed up. She was talking to Sasha and Sean. Sean and Sasha were both serpents, and they were best friends. They were born three days apart and grew up together. Sasha's dad is an old serpent named Sweet Pea. Sean's dad is an old serpent named Fangs. They were friends with my dad, and I remember Toni and them would come help my mom right after the death. Since Toni, Sweet Pea, and Fangs were such good friends their kids were raised as best friends.
"Claire Topaz-Blossom. Over much consideration I have decided you are ready to become a serpent. Tomorrow at sundown, you will be put to the test in a gauntlet. If you succeed you will be sworn in to the serpents. Then you will be rewarded with a tattoo and your official jacket." Claire smiled and nodded her head.
"May I ask what the gauntlet is."
"The gauntlet is a series of tests that only a true serpent can pass. Your fellow serpents can help prepare you for it."
"Thank you, my queen." Claire turned on her heel and left with Sasha and Sean.
