Legs

Legs

I don't know if I have
acquired a special ability
the moment I saw you smiling
from the distance, but like magic
I keep seeing you in every
blink of my eyes.
It's as if you could pop up
somewhere in my lonely world
so I wouldn't miss you
and feel that you are with me.
I know
that even if I'm far away,
and that there is no way
for you to see me the same way
I see you;
I would still fill my eyes
with your image, your face
beaming with smiles.
I could have
envied the mirror to where
you flashed those smiles
because at least the mirror
have seen your eyes staring
back at it. And at least
I know that even if I stare
at you the whole day
I could never make you smile.
I would sometimes
think that your smiles
have their own legs
and I could hate those legs.
They carry your smiles away
from me. But I know that those
legs are there for a reason,
for your own good.
And maybe those legs
would carry your smiles
to protect them,
to leave places and people
who tend to steal those smiles.
Those legs are there so that
they can take you to a better place
to meet better people,
far better than a stranger
like me
loving you from afar.
