Freaks and Geeks Pt. 2

A/N: As y'all may or may not know, Freaks and Geeks is an old TV show that's about a bunch of kids in high school in the year of 1980-81. I've taken a favorite moment of mine from the show and applied it to Rick Riordan's characters as well as massaging the plot a little to fit the changes and the general word count. (Most of my chapters are only around 2000 words) The point, mostly, is to give you an idea of what I'm going for here as well as to make sure you understand that not all these ideas are mine. So I guess there's your disclaimer! Thanks :)

Fourteen | Omniscient

    "Oh, hey, you know what? They're doing laser Floyd at Laser Dome tomorrow night," Leo said, hoping his friends would agree to go with him. Laser Dome wasn't like, a super cool place to be, but it was an excuse to zone out to some Floyd with Piper, and considering right now he was contemplating a crush on her, that was more than enough for Leo. Plus Thalia could come and maybe shave off a bit of her too-badass-for-this attitude.

    Unfortunately Piper had no respect at all and wanted Leo to die of loneliness. "Oh yeah, I heard that," she said sarcastically, rolling her eyes, "It was in ALL the newspapers." She pushed open a door for them, all three heading into the school.

    Leo narrowed his eyes. Crush cancelled! "Oh, and you're too good for a laser show? You guys, it's Floyd!" He was so not cool with them dissing the most ultimate band of all time!

    Thalia scoffed, rolling her eyes as she and piper passed him. Leo followed with an incredulous look in his eye, starting up again, his energy more frantic. "IF YOU DON' EAT YOUR MEAT, YOU CAN'T HAVE ANY PUDDING!" he cried, a desperate act that meant he was practically begging them to go. And sure, he'd gotten the quote completely wrong, but... it was kind of funny. Piper broke first, cracking a tiny smile. Leo saw it and zeroed in, his own smile breeding mischief. He was so going to get her on his side.

    "It's Floyd!" he opened his arms up in explanation, hoping that would do it for her.

    It obviously didn't. Piper looked doubtful at best.

    Leo shook his arms around. "Come on, they're not gonna do laser Floyd for another million years," he groaned, needing them to give a sort of assent.

    Piper actually laughed this time, lifting her palms up in surrender. "All right! We'll go! Shut up!" she chuckled.

    That was when Will came in, just catching up with them from his english class around the corner. Luckily they had been moving perpendicular to Will's actual classroom, so he didn't have to chase them too hard. He'd seen them as soon as he left the doorway. "Go where?" he quizzed.

    Thalia shook her head, crossing her arms as she gave Leo a judgemental look. "Oh, to uh, laser dome."

    Will's brows jumped. "You're making me go to laser dome?" he complained.

    "Yeah," Thalia shrugged, seeming to give up her attitude. "Be happy."

    But... "Isn't laser dome just a bunch of squiggly lights on a ceiling?"

    Leo was about to astral project from disappointment. "No, it's NOT just a bunch of squiggly lights on a ceiling. What is wrong with you people? Laser dome is a metaphysical experience."

    Piper snorted. "Yeah, especially if you have your hand up Wendy Franklin's shirt."

    Leo immediately looked sheepish, while Thalia started at a vague laughter. "Ooh. Yeah," she added helpfully, which just made Leo roll his eyes.
