New beginnings

MARINETTE'S POV

Adrien leads me upstairs to his room. He pushes the door back and grins boyishly. We are still dressed in the white sweaters, which everyone insisted I should keep as a freebie along with the other outfits I wore in the photoshoot.

I mean, who'd say no to unreleased Gabriel Agreste designed clothes?

I step into his room and can't help but look around in awe. Its like a hotel suite, with everything he needs there, including this giant white leather chaise infront of the tv.

'so, let's settle this once and for all,' I turn to the blonde, who is holding a video game in his hand. Ultimate Mecha Strike 3.

'prepare to get crushed, Adrien!'

'we'll see about that!'

As we are midway through the game, I notice Adrien's arm snake its way around my back.

I'm not letting any distractions make me lose this game.

I move closer to him to try and syke him out, but he just pulls me closer. I'm too engrossed in the game to respond. The screen goes blank for a second, and we wait to see who wins.

Draw!

Really?

I glare at Adrien, who glares back. I can't help but laugh and he joins in.

'What kinda films do you watch?'

'don't laugh,' I say, 'I love the classic Disney films'

'what's to laugh about that?' he says, whilst pulling out DVDs from his shelf, 'my favourite one is probably the lion king, maybe even the jungle book,'

'they're both good, but Beauty and the Beast will always be my favourite,'

'Why?' he asks, sliding it into the tv.

'probably because it's got such a beautiful message,' I think, whilst I speak 'that you can't really control who you fall in love with, and that you can love someone so much even if you know very little about them,'

'I can relate to that,'

he ambushes me by throwing a blanket ontop of my head. It's black with green paw prints on it.

'No way!' I gasp, 'It's the limited-edition Chat Noir blanket! I have the Ladybug one!'

'Damn right it is!' he says proudly, 'though secretly I prefer Ladybug to be honest,'

ADRIEN'S POV

I seize the opportunity to do some investigating.

'Most people do,' she says, 'but I prefer Chat Noir,'

I'm a little taken aback by this, 'why?'

'I feel like he's a little under-appreciated, like it seems as if Ladybug ends up with most of the credit when they defeat akumas,'

I feel myself glow a little with pride. Ladybug or not, I must admit, Marinette is growing on me.

'plus his puns are funny, only don't tell him that because his ego with grow bigger than the sun,' she says, laughing.

I freeze, 'Wait, do you spend a lot of time with him?'

Marinette's eyes widen slightly, 'erm, well not really, I've bumped into him a few times-I mean, Ladybug tells me about him, so erm yeah?'

'That's so cool! You chill with Ladybug!'

'Not really,' she stutters, speaking very quickly 'we just talk over snapchat,'

Suspiciously quickly.

'let me see!' I say, grabbing her phone.

'wait!' she snatches it of me, types her password and taps the screen a few times, biting her lip slightly, before handing me her phone, 'you'd better not tell anyone!'

I swipe into her conversations, to see streaks with our classmates and a snap from Ladybug. I tap on it, to see a half-face selfie of the masked heroine, with the sun rising in the background, emphasising the flecks in her beautiful eyes.

Why don't I get sent these pictures?

'Are you alright there, Adrien?' Marinette says, and I snap back into my room.

'I'm stealing your phone,' I turn it over to admire her grey checked phone case.

Its exactly the same as mine.

'type your password in!' she says, holding my phone infront of my face.

I tap in my pin, 'you've got good taste in phone cases,'

'than- omigod Adrien, your such a copycat!'

I open the camera app and take some mugshots of marinette, who notices and covers her face, taking some of me. Eventually, we decide to take some selfies.

The music from the tv swells, and marinette sits on the chaise, blanket on her legs, my phone in her hand but her attention on the tv screen.

I scroll through her gallery. There are photos of her and alya, and some dress designs.

Nothing gives anything away about whether she is ladybug or not. I try not to sigh.

I guess if I can cover up my tracks, so can the real ladybug. I mean, nobody would suspect it's me behind the black mask, so what makes me think I've pinpointed her exactly. I mean, there's the whole of Paris to search for. Is this just my own lame excuse for falling for two different girls?

Ladybug has made it clear that she doesn't return my feelings. But, Marinette...

I don't know what Marinette is thinking.

I look sideways at her, her mouth slightly parted, blue eyes twinkling with childish happiness, hair loosely cascading past her shoulders. For a moment, she turns to look at me and smiles softly.

This is the girl in my class, the one that I joke with, the one that wiped my tears away.

Is it time..

I can't believe I'm thinking this.

I don't know if I can bring myself to do it, but..

Is it time for me to move on?

Hey guys, so I was considering if I should end this here and start a book 2, but I thought I may aswell make this one long book and if it is a success, make an aftermath kinda book, maybe? Idk, I'm still thinking but this is a little plot teaser thingy for what next is to come..

As Adrien falls for Marinette, he wants to spend more and more time with his classmate, including as Chat Noir. Will we finally see our spotted heroine finally get butterflies from her black-clad partner? Or will she just end up becoming another victim of the akuma?

Meanwhile, the release of a controversial book written by Mayor Bourgeois makes our favourite love-square a lot more difficult as people lose their trust and begin to doubt their heroes, ultimately making Hawkmoth's job easier as friendships are torn apart. The arrival of new girl Lila also stirs mischief along with the spiral of lies, hatred, jealousy and deceit.

Will our heros be able to survive? Or will they crash and burn by these new, confusing feelings?
