MARINETTE'S POV

I spent the whole night restlessly tossing and turning in my bed, my mind spiralling as i stress over the book release tomorrow. This isn't the greatest, staying awake the night before we go back to school. I glance at my Qwami, gently snoring away. I can't go to sleep yet. I just can't.

I slip out of my duvet and check my phone. 1:52 AM. I try to scroll through instagram as a distraction for my uneasiness, untill i see a massive rant from @theofficialladyblog.

How does my phone manage to distract me when i need to focus, but doesn't when i just need to chill?

I'm not going to fall asleep anytime soon, either. I turn on my lamp. There's not enough light for me to sew. I pull my chat noir blanket tighter around me.

Alya got it for me for Christmas, because i'm obviously more of a Chat Noir fan. I mean, i am so good at leading people away from the idea of me being Ladybug.

I decide to open my doors leading to the balcony. As i open them, moonlight floods through my room, streaming across the carpet, climbing the walls. I step out and sit on my little outdoor couch, where i had added cushions for decoration. The wind sends chills down my neck, causing goosebumps on my arm as I arrange the blanket around me so that all of me is covered.

I can see the dim glow of the Eiffel Tower, and stars stud the cloudless sky, illuminating the darkness. I admire them.

They are so beautiful. I mean, i'm too dumb to recognise anything, but i can definitely they've always been a source of comfort to me since i was a kid. Among everything, the moon glows brightly in the sky.

Waxing moon.

They say it means things are getting brighter. Better. That everything's gonna be okay, that things are going to look up.

I stifle a scoff. As if. I may be lady luck as a superhero, but i'm completely powerless as ordinary marinette.

ADRIEN'S POV

I sit on the roof, dangling my feet on the edge. I couldn't sleep, so i decided to tranform despite Plagg's wailing. I look at the twinkling sky, down to the houses. It's too dark to see them, but you can tell their there because the stars stop around their outlines.

That's strange.

I notice a little smudge of light near one of the houses towards central Paris. My cat-vision helps me as i curiously approach it. On closer inspection, i can see a girl sat on a sofa on a balcony, eyes closed, head laid back.

I hope she's okay.

As i land on my two feet, her eyes click open and she becomes alert, looking around her until she sees me.

'Marinette?' i recognise my classmate, who smiles shyly, 'Why are you awake? What are you doing?'

'I could ask you the same,' She says, sitting up, rubbing her eyes, 'And i'm stargazing,'

I follow her gaze upwards, and she offers me the place besides her.

'Make a wish,' I whisper, and she flinches suddenly, before calming down just as quickly.

After a moment of closed eyes, she reopens them.

Have her eyes always been this stunning? It's as if all the world's ocean waves are twinkling back at me.

'What did you wish for?' I ask, trying to minimalise the effect of my daydreaming.

'I'm not saying,'

'Purrlease?'

'No,'

'Pleaseee?'

'I'm not saying!'
