- Joe's pov -
You walk up to the register patiently waiting for another customer to order. You glance over to that girl sitting near that window.
'I swear I've seen her somewhere before. I'm pretty sure I saw her in the other class.' You thought.
you stand there thinking, trying to remember who she was. It was 2 weeks back at school and you really haven't met everyone in your grade yet. You stood there puzzled. You found yourself staring into space and quickly snapped out of it, hoping nobody has ordered anything yet. Luckily, you snapped out of it right before someone came up.
"I'd like to order a large Iced green tea. Make it takeaway." He says.
You smile and pull out a large cup. You grab your pen from your pocket and ask for his name.
"Jake." He replied "make it quick, I don't wanna waste my time waiting."
You roll your eyes and walk towards the tea dispenser, filling the cup with iced green tea.
'Geez, he's a bitch.' You mumbled quietly.
you put a lid on the cup and gave him his order.
He snatches it from your hands and walks away. You stood there absolutely shocked, this has never happened before. Such a snob.It was currently 5 pm. It was getting dark outside already, due to the cloudy weather.
you walk into the staff room seeing everyone in the middle of a conversation.
"I'm heading out now. See you guys on Saturday."
they didn't hear you. You grab your coat, took off your apron and left it on the bench. You silently walk out of the staff room and out of the building. Thankfully it wasn't raining anymore, it was just cold. Your house wasn't too far from Starbucks which you were pretty thankful for. Walking home was boring. Same houses, same cars, same everything. The only thing that kept you entertained was counting how many steps it took to walk to your house.
You finally entered the front yard of your house. It felt like it took forever honestly.
You grab out your keys from your pocket and unlock the front door. Your parents should be home by now but you didn't see their cars in the driveway. You take off your coat and hanged it on the coat hanger. You took of your shoes and leave it under your coat. You run upstairs into your room and jump on your bed. You were exhausted from today. It was packed there. You still couldn't get over that rude customer 'Jake'. You'd never expect someone to be that impolite. It kind of made you upset about how he just snatched it out of your hands and walked away without saying thank you or anything! you grab out your phone and checked the time.
5:28 pm. It says.
You walk downstairs and went in the kitchen looking for something to eat. You found an apple in the fruit bowl. You grab it and jogged upstairs into your bedroom closing the door behind you. It was a good idea to work today instead of going to school. At least you were gaining money right? You take a bite out of the apple and pulled out a book you were reading. You flick through the pages and start to read the chapter you were last on.It was 6pm. Your mother was finally home but not your father.
'He's probably stuck in traffic' I thought. He did work in the city so that was pretty reasonable.
you open the door and come rushing downstairs, you forgot to greet your mother when she arrived. You were too busy reading a book.
You found her sitting in the lounge room watching television.
"Hey mom, how was your day?" You ask.
She turns her head towards you.
"It was alright Joseph. I got a phone call asking why you weren't at school today, do you have a reason?"
you stood there in silence.
"I was at work today. I thought it would be nice to have a break from school and work" you reply.
She hummed in response and continued watching television.
