Last Winter

LAST WINTER

Last winter, it was freezing cold

The same old story I was told

The children came, a torch they hold

At the same time, searching for hope

Last winter, the children came to me

Asking for anything, money can also be

There are drops of ice, shaking to their knee

They sang a song, but not for long

Last winter, the soldiers came

They were not animals but they were tamed

What they did was not a sin, poor kids

I tried to speak but I turned out weak

Last winter, I heard the cries of children

Begging for help from a young maiden

Named me, but there was nothing that I can

All the townspeople stared at the young men

Last winter, everyone was silent

The rustling of the winter breeze

Is all I can feel and hear

I kept on hiding it, my fear

Last winter, no one moved

To save the lives of innocent children

No one knows what happened then

Whether it is sad or a happy end
