Locken stared at the tombstone, one hand pressed lightly against the top. 'Sebastian Rameriz' it read in elegant cursive. A choice his daughter, Lily, had made.
That was the only thing that felt real about this, to Locken. The cursive etched into unfeeling stone. His death, she was still in denile. It had been many years since their misadventures, but when you live as long as Locken does years pass by in a blink.
"I never got to tell you, forgot to." She whispers to the stone infront of her. "Figured I'd have more time than this. More time to come to terms with it." She smiles at that, laughing to herself. A cold and brittle thing.
"I'm sorry for never telling you the truth, but maybe one day. Maybe we'll meet again somehow. I hope so." She lets her eyes slip closed, taking in the sounds around her. Without warning tears began to force their way through.
"Maybe then you could apologize for real." She mummbles, words swept away by the wind. Just as her quiet sniffles and sobs are.
A few minutes later she feels a hand on her shoulder, turning back to see James Locken tries to force up a smile. It doesn't work.
"We hafta go." He says while looking up at her. "They'll be here soon.""Okay, okay." She gives herself a few moments to cram everything back into the box and stop her tears. In this time James lightly hugs her before quickly fleeing.
Feeling better she runs after him, soaring only one glance back at the lavish cemetery on the way. "I'll keep my promise." She says with finality.
James gives her a look but she just grins at him before hopping into the car. Locken knew him well enough to know he would further ask about it. Just like she wouldn't think about it anymore.
It was time to go back, and now she knew for sure what had to be done.
