That night, when my Dad got home from work, Mom took him into their bedroom to talk. She didn't want me to come with them, which I thought was weird because it was about me. I waited outside their bedroom, trying to hear what they were saying. But they were definitely whispering. I could hear a little bit, though. I heard them say my name and Amber's. At one point, Dad raised his voice, but Mom told him to quiet down. I guess they didn't want Amber to hear them. Amber was in her room which is right beside my parents' room. After about a half hour, they finally came out of their room. I had given up on the listening thing, and I was in my room writing my story. They both walked into my room. Mom sat on my bed and Dad crouched beside my chair at my desk. He looked into my eyes and smiled.
"You have an amazing gift," he said. "Don't ever give it up."
"I can do that?" I asked.
"Ahem," Mom interrupted. "Your father and I were talking about if you can get a dragon. We think that-"
"MOM!" Amber screamed. She burst into my room. "Why are you all in here?"
"We're just talking," Mom said. Amber was holding her phone and wearing her pink pyjamas. Her long blonde hair was in a messy bun.
"About what?" Amber asked.
"None of your business," I said. She rolled her eyes.
"Whatever. Hey Mom, can I go to the mall with my friends?"
"Now?" Mom asked. "It's almost six o'clock."
"So?" Amber said. Mom looked at Dad. Dad opened his mouth to say something but Mom said something before he could.
"Fine. But be back by nine."
"Thanks Mom!" she said.
"Wait!" Dad yelled as Amber stepped out of the room.
"What?" she asked as she turned around.
"Who are you going with?"
"I'm going with Sarah, Chloe, Sandra and Sarah's sister Brianna."
"Who's driving you?" Amber rolled her eyes.
"Brianna." Amber said.
"How old is she?" Dad asked.
"John!" Mom said and slapped his chest. "Calm down she'll be safe!"
"Fine," Dad said.
"But have your phone on and with you at all times!"
"Okay father!" Amber said as she walked out of the room and closed the door.
"Anyway, Tamalia," Mom said. "We think that I should teach you everything you need to know about dragons, Nogards and Gards. How does that sound?"
I shrugged. "I'm just still shocked that dragons exist."
"I was too, Tam," Dad said. "But then I realized how incredible they really are. Even though I can't ride them or anything."
"But I haven't even seen one yet."
"You will," Mom said. "You will.
