My mom and I went outside to start my training.

"Now, go stand over there. Right by that last tree," Mom said. She was pointing to my climbing tree, that was way far back in the corner of our big backyard. I ran over to the tree and stood in front of it. I faced Mom. "Good!" she yelled. "Now, this is how big a normal dragon gets to be when they are fully grown!" My draw dropped.

"That's at LEAST thirty feet long!" I yelled.

"I know! But that's actually how big a Ljubljana dragon gets. Wyvern dragons are much smaller! Now come back here!" I ran back, panting.

"What now?" I asked.

"Let's start the parts of a dragon." I groaned.

"Why do I need to know that?"

"Well, it may sound boring, but you'll thank when you get older. So, you stay here 'cause I have to go get something. I'll be right back." She ran into the house. I slapped my sides and sat in the cold grass. At least it was dry.

I tried imagining what a real dragon looked like. A Ljubljana dragon. I imagined what it would be like if you got to ride a dragon. The wind blowing in your face. Blowing your hair around. The sweet smells in the air. All that stuff that my mother did. My mother's dreams came true, she did something that seemed impossible, but wasn't.

"I'm back!" Mom yelled.

I turned and she was coming down the steps, holding a big sheet of paper and some markers. I frowned. This wasn't starting the way I hoped.

She placed the sheet in the grass. On the sheet, there was a dragon.

"This is a Red Wyvern. The most popular dragon known to Nogards."

"What kind of dragon was Tamalia?" I asked.

"She was a Blue Tsunami dragon."

" A Tsunami dragon?" I asked. "Those exist?"

Mom nodded.

"Do wind, grass and leaf dragons exist too?" I asked.

"Well, wind dragons exist, but grass and leaf don't exist."

I rolled my eyes.

"Anyway, a Red Wyvern has two very large wings-"

"Do we have to do this?" I asked. "This is boring. Can we do some different training? Please?"

Mom frowned. "Okay," she said. "I'll teach you the sounds that dragons make when they are in different moods."

I sighed. "Well, at least this is better than learning the parts of a dragon."

Mom rolled her eyes.

"Well, come with m-" Mom stopped talking.

"What?" I asked.

"Shh," she said. She looked in the sky and sniffed the air. Her eyes widened.

"Go. Go!" she said and took my arm.

She pulled me to the deck and inside. She shut the door.

"What?" I asked. She was blocking the window on the door. I pushed in front of her. "What?" I said again. I looked out the window. The trees were blowing around. There was something coming from the sky. Suddenly, it came into view. A large red winged creature landed in our backyard. It was almost from our deck to my climbing tree. It had blood red wings and a body covered in scales. It had horns around it's huge head and razor sharp teeth. It's legs were ten feet long with claws that were like chainsaws!

"Mom?" I asked. "What is that?"

Mom sighed. "That, my dear, is a Red Wyvern dragon."
