Everyone watched at Darquesse rose into the sky, she was saying something, but she was to far away to hear the words. They all watched with hope, because it was finally happening, she was finally leaving. Cassandra collapsed into Finbar's arms, drained from all the energy she'd put into convincing Darquesse that the vision she was seeing is true. Valkyrie could feel herself get weaker, the further Darquesse got, the more she wanted to allow her knees to buckle, she had to wait. After all that bitch has done to her, she wanted to watch this. Darquesse vanished. Valkyrie's knees buckled and Skulduggery dived forward catching her in his arms. He tilted his head frowning. He paused, looking at the limp girl, when he realised she was no longer breathing he placed her body on the ground and pressed his fingertips to her neck, he moved them around every few seconds; desperately searching for a pulse. He knelt next to her, cursing. Cassandra lifted herself out of Finbar's arms, noticing all the commotion, she crouched next to Skulduggery and pushed him aside, carefully she placed a, shaky, hand on Valkyrie's forehead. Her eyes closed for a second then they snapped open and she looked at the skeleton.

"I'm sorry." She said and stood up, covering her face with her hands. Skulduggery growled and pressed his hands to her chest, pushing; up and down. He started thumping down on her chest harder, a growl ripped through him,

"Don't do this." He sobbed so only he could hear. Fletcher looked away,

"Sorry, I can't watch this," he said, before he disappeared with a soft pop. There was a sickening crack and Cassandra ran forward yanking Skulduggery away from her. He fell backwards onto his butt and he just stared at Valkyrie's chest, remembering how it used to rise and fall. Cassandra sat forward on her knees and she ran her fingers across Valkyrie's ribs.

"You broke some of her ribs" Cassandra said softly, placing a hand on his arm, Skulduggery brushed her off and sat up, sliding his arms under Valkyrie and stood up, Valkyrie sagged in his arms.

"Let's get her to the sanctuary's medical ward." He said, quietly. Finbar frowned,

"I don't want to be rude, or point out the obvious, or end up getting punched in the face; but why are you taking her to the medical ward? There is nothing they can do." Skulduggery didn't look back, nor did he say anything, he started walking. Quite anger, consuming him.

Skulduggery looked up at Synecdoche who was observing valkyrie's limp body; she had a frown on her face Quickly she reached over to the files on the desk, her eyes skimming over the page at an inhuman speed. She frowned again and she placed her hand on Valkyrie's head and closed her eyes for a second.

"I don't understand." Synecdoche muttered, her eyes flying open. She lifted up the sheet, covering Valkyrie and glanced under it, her frown deepened. Skulduggery stepped forward.

"What is it?" He asked. His skull moving between the doctor, to his friend. Synecdoche glanced up at him,

"It's just, no one can find a cause of death. At all, no injuries whatsoever and she's still in good health, nothing in her blood that we can detect. She's just..." Synecdoche trailed off, not wanting to anger Skulduggery further. But he didn't seen fazed.

"So you're telling me she just died, because that doesn't just happen." He said a slight tinge of anger in his voice.

"It could- Maybe if- Tell me what exactly was happening when she died." Synecdoche demanded an idea popping into her head, she kept it at the back of her head, not wanting to get her hopes up. Skulduggery nodded,

"Okay well, she was standing next to me and Fletcher, Cassandra and Finbar were behind us. We were watching Darquesse leave this reality, through a-"
