I was taking a huge chance, having Lenny Foster do my dirty work. Did I know that male-like truly know him? No. But did I trust him? I was certainly getting there. He'd committed one hell of a crime and all I'd had to do was ask and offer. And then there was the simple fact that Samuel Specter had sent him to me to begin with. A male who I trusted with my life.

Lyza Foster had gotten what she had coming and now it was time for me to sit down and have a chat with that husband of hers. I was sure his ending would be just like hers after I was done. That would be today and I guessed it was a good thing I was in need of a little road trip.

"Daddy, can I go to work with you today?" Lydia was sitting in the chair behind my desk with a teddy in her hand, curls wild from sleep and wearing her pajama's. She'd followed me down the stairs early this morning, before dawn. An early riser,  like me. I'd just hung up the phone after talking with Lenny Baker, who would be here in ten minutes.

"Not today, baby." I replied and went to the counter where my liquor was. True, is was still too early for a drink, so I knelt down and opened the cabinet that my safe was behind. The very incriminating evidence that was on the other side of the locked door needed to be destroyed for everyone's own safety.

"But Mommy let's me go to work with her sometimes." The little girl had a pout on her face when I glanced back at her. I could only imagine how she would be when she reached Christopher's age or hell, a teenager. I needed to be more strict on her where getting whatever she desired was concerned but sometimes those big, blue eyes got to me.

"Did you eat all of your breakfast?" I asked, punching in the safes code and the door popped. I'd needed proof from Lenny Baker that he had gotten the job done. Proof he had given me and it was...quite brutal. He could have gone about it in a lot more cleaner way but if torture was his thing, who was I to judge?

"No. That lady doesn't know how to cook, Daddy. She burned my eggs." Her words took me back to the past for just a second. Davina Cole, high as a fucking kite, attempting to cook me breakfast in a dirty kitchen whenever she had even thought about cooking me breakfast. I'd agreed on letting her back into my life but when the hell was she going to go crawling back to her new husband? Soon, hopefully.

I didn't have time to dwell on the shitty childhood Davina had subjected me to. Something wasn't right and as I stared into the safe, I tried to figure out just what. Had I left the file turned this way or that? Had those pictures been sticking out of the side because I hadn't carefully placed the file in the safe? I didn't fucking think so. "Was Mommy taking your money out of there?" Lydia asked me then as if she had read my mind.

So I was right...things were disturbed. Caroline had lied to me. And very well, I had to give her that. Usually I could see right through my wife. And now, I was pissed. Not even because she had been searching my things or even that she had gotten into the safe but because now she knew for certain why Lenny Baker was still 'hanging around'. Didn't she realize what knowing this information could do to her if this all ended badly?

I doubted it would. But there had been a reason why I hadn't told her about my business with Baker. "I don't think she was taking my money, Princess." I said, keeping my voice calm. Caroline had money, she always would have money. I closed the safe back, deciding that I could come back down when Lenny was here to destroy the damn file. "Let's go to the kitchen and I'll get you some cereal." I said, going to my daughter and lifting her out of the chair.

"But I don't want cereal, Daddy." She huffed, as stubborn as ever. Just like her mother, who I was going to find and confront. All the way to the kitchen I named off a few things and she agreed on a yogurt. After she was settled at the dining table, with her breakfast, I left the kitchen that did in fact smell like burnt eggs and went on a search to find my wife.
