Tuesday. Another carefully thought outfit. 48 new followers on Instagram and four new contacts in my contact list.

Wednesday. Yet another carefully selected outfit. 13 new followers on Instagram and one more contact in my contact list.

Thursday came and the news about Lily Li, a sophomore, getting knocked up was the new thing everyone was talking about.

At this point, I knew that if I was really still intending on going through with this I was going to have to step up my game a lot more.

And as much as I hated to admit it, I knew the solution.

Too bad my solution was in the person of Kyle Anderson, my number one arch enemy.

I tried to push this stressing thoughts away as I neared the door to the gym.

Peeking in, I saw the entire cheerleading squad and like twelve girls who were waiting to tryout.

It was after school so I had changed into black leggings and a grey tee for my cheerleading tryouts, but somehow I couldn't get myself to actually walk into the gym.

"Just go for it", a voice said behind me for the second time this week.

I turned to face the owner of the voice.

Summer replied with a smile. "I can tell you're hesitating again"

"Wow", I said smiling. "How do you do it? It's like you're an angel of encouragement or something"

"Yeah, something like that", she said. "But seriously, just do it. You already signed up, so you want this. Just walk in there and show them you've got what it takes. You've got this"

"Yeah, you're right. I've got this", I exhaled. "Thank you. I'll be sure to call for you when I need a little pushing"

"Don't bother. I'll hear the distress call", she said before laughing.

Her laughter was so contagious, I couldn't help but join her.

"I'm Riley", I said after managing to stop laughing.

"Summer", she said before pushing towards the gum doors. "Now go"

I bust into the gym not-so-gracefully , my sneakers screeching against the gym floors, calling everyone's attention in the gym.

I looked back at the door, half-considering just running out screaming like a crazy person, only to see Summer giving me two thumbs up with a huge smile.

Suddenly gaining courage, I faced the gym again and walked to where everyone else trying out was.

The entire squad; Paris, Kira, Asiah and everyone else was present.

Paris much like everyone else on the squad was in the blue and white cheerleading uniform, with the ridiculously short skirt. Her hair was in a perfect ponytail with a blue and white ribbon hair tie, and she was once again studying her fingernails looking totally bored.

She looked up for a second and her eyes landed on me.

I noticed she was trying really hard to figure out where she had seen me before. Like I was a very faint memory- yet another reminder to step up my game.

"Kylie right?", she said walking closer to me, her perfect ponytail bouncing with every step.

"Um, actually, it's Riley", I corrected.

She just looked at me for a few seconds then gave me a smile before walking back to the front, clapping at everyone to get in formation.
