"Gaia and Uranus-"
Mira bit down on her lip to stifle her laugh. Noticing this, Master Chilen gave her a warning look.
She glanced away and the master calmly continued, "As I was saying, Gaia and Uranus created the Gods to look after us. They were, and still are the lighthouses that guide humanity to abundance and prosperity." A longing look passed the old man's face, he was a true believer and he believed from his heart.
Unlike Mira.
"Kronos was the most trusted God between his brothers and sisters. He kept the balance of Time, light, and darkness. Without him, all would be lost."
Mira arched an eyebrow, "Correct me if I'm wrong master but wasn't he the one to wage war against his siblings?"
Her teacher nodded, eyes gazing around the silent path they were walking upon. The smell of fresh flowers eased the severity of his thoughts. He had to tread carefully. So, he took his delicate time before answering her.
"He did." He stopped walking and crouched down near the ankle length grass, then he picked the bluest flower Mira had ever seen.
It was the traditional flower of the kingdom. They called it the tear of Gaia. Apparently, after things started getting bad between the Gods and Gaia saw the bloodshed unleashed upon her creations, she wept. One of her divine teardrops landed on this earth, creating this blue flower.
The master stood straight, his gaze focused on the glistening flower. It looked pearly, especially under the bright sun. He wondered if the creator's tears would really be as shiny as this.
"Even Gods become lost sometimes."
Mira's nose scrunched up as she took the flower from her teacher's hands. Her own hand reached up toward the sky and the blue petals came alive with the sun's touch. Her teacher watched her with curiosity.
"Let me show you what I think of them, master."
Mira's gray eyes turned white for a split second, then, her palm was wrapped in a fire as white as her eyes.
The blue petals started to melt, their colour dripping from its single branch to Mira's hand. As fast as the flames appeared, they disappeared and the dead branch fell to the ground.
Blue petals now ash, the stem a horrible brown, Mira pursed her lips. She could feel the anger brimming within her teacher but she paid no mind, he knew her hate toward them. She blamed them for all the crimes of humanity, and it would take a miracle for her to change her mind. Until then, she would be glad all the Gods had disappeared, and that was if they were real.
"Mira... You are not listening as always." Her teacher was scolding her like a little child, as expected.
She turned her now calm gaze to him, seeing his wrinkles under the harsh sun better. He was the best divine energy yielder her kingdom had seen in decades but he was getting older, Mira knew this but she wished it wasn't true.
"I will not apologize for my actions, master," she paused for a slight second, "nor for my words."
She nodded as if approving herself. She loved her teacher but she was adamant in her ways.
Her teacher sighed, a frown etched into his face before he looked away. Another day, he would try, another day. It was always the same cycle with his pupil, no matter how much she grew up.
He looked back at her, truly looked at her. Her gray eyes as stormy as the spring's end, he was worried for her.
"Your lack of faith will be tested, Mira."
