Chapter 1

Rain and night. What a beautiful mix. It's a beauty for me to look at, but it's not fun when your friend is having to walk to a party through it. Cranxerz, my friend I mentioned earlier, was wearing his coat and had his hood over his head. His tennis shoes made a clomping sound as he walked along the damp street.

"Why'd it have to rain?" he sighed to himself. He kept going until he saw the building. He stopped at the entrance and took in a deep breath. Then he threw open the doors to the party and saw everyone watching.

"Cranxerz!" I called over to him.
"Hey, Ash," he waved to me from across the room. He saw Coco with me and we both walked over to him. I smiled and turned my attention to the refreshment table.
"I'll be right back," I stated while darting to the table.
"What's she getting?" he asked Coco.
"Probably Orange Fant-" she noticed that I went for the Mountain Dew. "I guess she's obsessed with that now." I came back with my drink.
"I'm glad you could make it, Crackers." I teased him. I should have known his answer was coming.
"It was nothing, Ashy." he said, giving me a snicker. Eyeing me, he realized I looked taller. Raising an eyebrow, he asked, "Ash, have you gotten taller than last time-"
"Yeah, I'm five foot nine now." I affirmed.
"She needs to quit growing. She makes me look small," Coco argued.
"You seem to forget I also have voice cracks, Coco." I mumbled. Hearing me, she burst out laughing.
"Remember that time you tried singing-"
"Yeah I know." I cut her off with embarrassment.

"It's alright, Ash, it happens to the best of us."
"Cheers to that," I said while raising my cup and downing the drink. I licked my lips like a dog and looked over the sea of teens. Cranxerz noticed this and asked,

"Ash, why did this party happen again?"
"Oh," I sighed at him, "some of the kids at the neighborhood wanted to get together. So here we are," I gently punched his shoulder and ruffled Coco's hair.
"Ow," he responded. He rubbed his shoulder and saw Coco stick her tongue out at him. He did the same jokingly. We talked for a while when Cranxerz said,
"I'm gonna get me a drink. I'll be right back!" he left to go to the table.

Striding to the table, he caught sight of something shiny on the ground.
"Huh?" he questioned, picking it off the ground. "What the heck is this?" He shrugged it off and held it in his left hand. Going over to the Mountain Dew bottle, he poured some into a cup. I'm not really thirsty, he convinced himself. Besides, Ash would enjoy this much more than I would. I don't even like this drink, he finished. While pouring, a kid accidentally bumped into him. "Hey!" he shouted angrily. "Watch where you're going!" He raised his left hand into a fist at the kid, showing his anger. Unknown to him, he dropped the shiny object into the drink. Before he could notice it inside, it completely dissolved. Cranxerz picked up the beverage and carefully and came to me. "Ash! I got this for you!" he said with a smile.
"Aw! Thanks, Crackers!" I held it to my lips and drank it all in one go. I shivered after drinking it and both he and Coco stared at me. "Woo! That gave me a little bit of a buzz!" They both raised an eyebrow at me.
"Doesn't it always taste like th-" Coco stopped herself when a friend walked up. "Oh! I forgot! Ash, Cranxerz, I would like you to meet my new friend, Macs!"
"Hi," she stated with confidence.

"Nice to meet you," Cranxerz smiled and shook her hand. Both he and Coco's eyes locked onto my body. "Ash, do you have anything to say?" he asked me curiously. He noticed my mouth was agate and I was staring into space. Coco glanced over to Macs from shame and embarrassment.
"P-pardon her," Coco excused me. "She's just daydreaming. Right, Ash?" She cleared her throat and rammed her elbow into my side. I gave no response. "Ash? Hello? Anyone in there?" She questioned while waving a hand by my face. "Ash!" She shouted in my ear. I snapped out of my thoughts and stared down to see Macs. I blushed when I realized I zoned out.

"H-hi! I-i'm Ash!" I announced. Unfortunately, my voice cracked and everyone stared at me.

"It's alright, Ash," Macs claimed. She shook my hand and saw how my eyes kept shifting around nervously. "Are you alright?" she watched me. Does he suffer from anxiety, came into her mind.

"Ash! Pay attention!" Coco demanded.
"Is he okay?" Macs eyed me uneasily and heard a laugh from Cranxerz.
"Y-you think Ash is a- a boy?" he couldn't contain his laughter.
"Isn't h-"

"No, she isn't. She gets that a lot," Coco confirmed honestly. She observed the way I seemed disturbed. I kept making weird faces at everything and I looked terrified. "Ash, you should go home and get some sleep. You've ate a lot and you probably don't feel good." She gently grabbed my hand and I nearly fell over. "Ash! D-did I scare you? I-i'm so sorry! I-i'll just be quiet," she backed away from me and eyed the ground. I heard what she said and nodded. I backed away from everyone and stumbled to get away.

"I wonder what got into her," Cranxerz shrugged it off. "You're probably right," he returned his gaze to the rest of the group. "She might have eaten too much," they didn't notice I was running out of the building to get home. For all they knew, my stomach was upset and I was running home to take care of myself; however, that wasn't the reason why I was panicked at all.
