I opened my eyes and looked around. I was laying on some sort of blue cloth. It smelled really good. I sat up and realized my head had been on Cory's chest, the blue cloth was his shirt. I looked around but there was no one there. The lion was gone, along with Ian and the audiance. The only people left were my friends and I.
Cory, Cory wake up," I said, shaking his shoulder. I sat there for 5 minutes, shaking his shoulders and even resorted to slapping him across the face. Just as I was about to give up, I heard a small groan. I looked down to see Cory's eyes opening. He groaned again.
"What happened?" He asked, sitting up and rubbing his head.
"I don't know." I replied, standing up, "let's try and wake up the others." We tried and tried but they wouldn't budge. After a while Cory sat down and pulled out his cell phone.
"No signal." He sighed.
"Do you think they would have a phone somewhere outside?" I asked, "We could go look around."
"Sure." Cory said, standing up and walking toward the opening in the tent, "You coming?" He said, turning around to look at me.
"Ya." And with that he dissapeared behind the curtain, and I ran to catch up with him.
We spent hours looking for a phone, butcouldn't find anything. Eventually we went back to the tent. I was trailing behind Cory. He was being really moodyand I couldn't figure out why. He stepped inside the tent and I heard a scream. I took off running after him, and whipped around the curtain. Cory was staring at the place where our friends had been. There was nothing there. It didn't even look like anyone had been there in the first place.
"Where-where did they go?" I stuttered.
"Do I look like I know?" He muttered.
"Why are you in such a bad mood?" I questioned. He looked at me like I was crazy. Of course he was in a bad mood, I was too, but he didn't have to take it out on me. "You know what I mean. But you can't take your anger out on me, this isn't my fault. I'm in the same situation you are, they're my friends too. And I'm scared out of my mind, I mean I don't know what to-"
"I know," he said pulling me to his chest, "I'm sorry." I let my arms wind around him. He was warm, it felt good.
"It's alirght, Iet's just go find everyone." I said, pulling away. Again we walked around the whole circus, searching for our friends everywhere. This time Cory was trailing behind me. He was getting tired, and he said his legs were sore from all this walking. I was tired too, but my legs weren't sore. Can't feel pain, remember?
"Do you think we should just leave?" Cory asked.
"What?" I yelled, "We can't just leave everyone behind!"
"I know, we will call the police, we'll get help." He said, looking at the exit. I nodded my head as he held out his hand. I took it and together we walked to the exit. We were about to leave when we walked into something. I looked around, but there was nothing there. We tried again, but it was no use. Cory was now backing up, and running at the invisible wall.
"Cory." I said as he ran at it again. "Cory, stop."
"Why?" He asked, breathing hard, "I need to get you out of here!" He said, backing up again. "There is something not right here, I don't want you to get hurt. You can't, I won't let you!" He yelled breaking into a run, just to hit the wall again. I heard a crack, and Cory sank to the ground, holding his shoulder. I rushed over to his side.
"Are you okay?" I asked, examining his shoulder. There was no blood, that was a good thing right.
"I'm fine." He said trying to stand up. I pushed him back down.
"Cory, come one, it's no use. It's not working." I said, moving to sit down in front of him.
"I can't just do nothing." He whispered, putting his palm to my cheek. I leaned my head to the side, resting it in his hand. "What if something happens to you?"
"Nothing is going to happen to me, I promise. Okay?" I say, trying to look into his eyes. He had his head down. "Look at me." I whisper, "Cory, look at me." He finally lifts his head up and looks me in they eyes. What he does next surprises me. He kisses me. His lips were warm. He wraps his strong arms around my waist, I put my hands on his chest. We fit like puzzle pieces, it feels so right.
"Sorry," he says quietly when he breaks the kiss, "I just had to do that. I've been waiting to do that I mean-" I kiss him again, cutting him off.
"I've been waiting for you to do that." I say when we pull away. He goofily smiles, until he remebers where we are. He stands up, and positions himself to run at the wall again.
"Cory, you know that's not going to work. Why don't we go back to the tent, try and get some sleep, and rethink things in the morning." I say, standing up and walking over to where he's now standing. I gently put my hand on his bad shoulder, "You need to rest." When he nods his head, I take off walking toward the tent, I just want to go to sleep.I quickly turned around when I heard a muffled scream.
"Cory? Cory!" I yelled, panic evident in my voice. I ran around looking for him, and finally came back to the tent. "I must be dreaming," I muttered, as I pulled back the cuertain. The lights were now turned off. I started climbing up the rows of seats, looking around.
All of a sudden all the lights turned on, momentarily blinding me. I put my hand in front my eyes as the lights dimmed. When I took my hand away, I saw Cory, sitting in the middle of the ring, tied up with a gag in his mouth.
"Cory!" I screamed, running towards him. I reached him and pulled the gag out of his mouth, he took a deep breath. "You're okay you're okay." I breathed, putting my arms around him.
"Behind you," he whispered, looking over my shoulder. I lifted my head so I could see his face, there was fear in his eyes. "Behind you," he said again. I turned my head and walking toward me was London.
"I told you to join the circus!" She said and then started laughing like a maniac.
