Amber woke up. Birds were chirping, and there was a small breeze. She looked up and realized she was sleeping on Zayn’s chest. He wore no shirt, and his breathing was slow and even. When she realized she was on Zayn she jumped up and freaked out.
“Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh!” Amber repeated, waking Zayn up. He sat up, rubbed his eyes, and stretched his arms out in front of him.
“Good morning,” Zayn told her. He realized she was freaking out. “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing! Just me freaking out! Um… yeah!” Amber paced back and forth.
“Amber, calm down. You’ll fall off the roof.” Zayn laughed.
“I forgot we were on the roof!” Amber jumped near Zayn.
“What’s wrong with you?” Zayn asked, laughing. “Was it about the snuggling?”
“What?!” Amber freaked out more.
“You were cold, Amber. Body heat is the best way to warm up.” Zayn smiled.
“Couldn’t you have gotten another blanket?” Amber asked.
“I could’ve, but I was too lazy.” Zayn replied, finding Amber’s freaking-out-act amusing.
“I’m just going to leave and pretend nothing happened.” Amber told herself.
“Don’t forget your shoes!” Zayn reminded. Amber looked down at her feet. She was bare-foot.
“How’d they get off?” Amber asked herself.
“You kept kicking me, so I took them off.” Zayn answered.
“Where are they now?” Amber looked around. Zayn shrugged.
“I threw them!” Zayn smiled.
“Where did you throw them?” Amber asked looking around, everywhere.
“By the floor of the ladder.” Zayn told her.
“I’m going to get them, and leave. Don’t ever throw my shoes off a building again.” Amber demanded.
“Are you saying, we’re going to do this again sometime?” Zayn asked, smiling. Amber ignored him and turned around. She climbed down the ladder and looked on the floor.
“Are you looking for these?” Someone asked, to the left of her. It was Zayn, holding two white-laced boots.
“How did you get down here?” Amber asked.
“A pole, I slid down it. You know, these shoes were incredibly hard to get off?” Zayn asked, swinging them side-to-side.
“Zayn, give them.” Amber held out her hand for the boots.
“Come and get them!” Zayn smiled.
“Zayn!” Amber yelled, anger taking over her voice. She ran after him, but he ran faster. He laughed. “Zayn, give them now!” Amber yelled.
“Out of breath already, Amber?” Zayn yelled back. Amber stopped. She had an idea.
“No, my head hurts.” Amber fell on the floor. Her eyes closed.
“Amber!” Zayn ran over to her, shaking her shoulders. Her eyes flew open, and a smile appeared on her face. She snatched the boots out of his hands and put them on. “I did not expect that.” Zayn mentioned Amber’s little act.
“Got to go!” Amber started walking away.
“Wait! Where do you have to go?” Zayn asked.
“To my house, I have to change my clothes!” Amber pulled at her white dress.
“Why don’t you just borrow some of Annalise’s?” Zayn asked.
“Good idea,” Amber ran into the house, up the stairs, and ran into Anna’s room. “Anna!” Amber jumped on Anna’s bed, waking her up.
“What?” Anna asked, still tired.
“I need to borrow some clothes, is that okay?” Amber asked.
“I don’t care, just leave me alone!” Anna pulled a blanket over her face.
“Okay!” Amber walked to Annalise’s closet and opened it. She grabbed a plain pair of jeans and a light green t-shirt. On the shirt there was a white clover and white lettering that said ‘Kiss Me I’m Irish’. She walked into Annalise’s bathroom, shut the door and changed. She grabbed her dress and walked out of the bathroom. She grabbed one of Anna’s bags and put her dress inside. She walked downstairs and saw Zayn waiting for her.
“Maybe I will.” He said. Amber gave a look of confusion, then realized he was talking about her shirt. She rolled her eyes.
“Why don’t you go and put on a shirt?” Amber asked. Zayn ignored her, and walked into the kitchen area. He grabbed a shirt off the counter and put it on.
“Happy?” Zayn asked. She nodded her head.
“I have to go, and you aren’t coming with me.” Amber smiled.
“Where are you going?” Zayn asked.
“That’s for me to know, and you to find out.” Amber laughed and opened the front door.
“Be safe.” Zayn told her.
“I will!” Amber shut the door and walked away from the house. She walked onto a field. No one was around. She closed her eyes, and smiled.
“Are you lost?” Someone asked. Her eyes popped open and she spun around. “Do you need help?”
“You! Get away from me!” Amber told the man. It was the creep from the forest.
“I didn’t help you last time. Let me help you this time.” The man took steps closer to Amber. He dropped his cane. Amber turned around quickly and started running away from the man. He ran after her. He was fast. He was only a few steps behind her. She sprinted away from him, her adrenaline kicking in.
“Help!” Amber screamed. “Someone help me!”
“Amber!” Someone screamed her name. She fell and a shock of pain shot through her body. The world was spinning, and her vision became blurry. “Run, Amber, run!” She tried getting up multiple times, but her body refused. There was yelling and sounds of pain. Someone ran to Amber’s side.
“Come on, we need to go.” The man said, picking her up and running away with her.
“Drew, is she okay?” A man asked, a few feet away.
“She’s okay, Zayn.” It was Drew’s voice that spoke back. Everything was still spinning. She knew Drew was carrying her. She closed her eyes.
“Drew… Zayn,” Amber felt herself slip away. Everything was dark and quiet.
“You’re alone. You will always be alone.”
