“Charlie!” Amber slammed through the hospital doors, ignoring the people who were staring at her. She ran to the front desk.
“Please let me see him!” Amber begged.
“I’m sorry, but you can’t-” The front desk lady was cut off by one of the doctors.
“It’s alright, Tisha, she can see him. I’ll take you to him.” The doctor led Amber to Charlie’s room. He opened the door and walked inside, Amber entering after him. Bruises and cuts covered his face.
“Oh my gosh! Charlie…” tear after tear fell. Amber’s hands cupped together and covered her mouth. She slowly walked to Charlie’s bedside. His eyes were closed, and his breathing was more heavier.
“He cracked a rib and his ankle is sprained. He’ll have to take it easy for the next few days. I presume you’re his girlfriend?” The doctor asked.
Amber nodded her head, wiping away the tears. The doctor began walking away.
“Wait! Did they catch the person who hit him with the car?” Amber asked.
“That’s the police’s job, not mine. You can ask them if you would like to. Sorry, I’m not of help with that subject.” The doctor exited the room. Amber returned her attention back to Charlie. She closed her eyes, taking in everything she received hours before.
“It’s my fault. If you hadn’t carried me home, you wouldn’t have been hit by the car.” Amber cried.
“Amber…it’s…not…your…fault.” Charlie said taking in air between each word. Amber’s eyes shot open. It took her nearly a second to be on top of him, hugging him. “Amber, my rib.” Charlie told her, his voice like a whisper.
“Oh! I’m sorry!” She got off and smiled. She grabbed his hand and gave it a little squeeze.
“It is my fault if I hadn’t-” she was cut off by the door flinging open and Annalise running in.
“You worried me half to death!” She yelled.
Charlie and Amber began laughing.
“Hey! What’s so funny? I’m not kidding you know!” Annalise yelled again.
“One crazy night, I’ll tell you that!” Charlie’s voice cracked every other word.
“I leave you guys alone for one night and you go break your arm, damage your lungs, and break your ankle!” Annalise complained.
“Actually, Anna, he only cracked a rib and sprained his ankle.” Amber corrected, laughing a little.
“Whatever! He still got hurt! See what I mean Charlie? If you hang out with her, you’re asking for serious damage!” Annalise told Charlie.
“Hey!” Amber replied.
“Isn’t that what makes it fun?” Charlie smiled.
“You boys, I don’t understand! You’re so difficult!” Annalise whined.
“I’ll go get us some coffee.” Amber headed for the door. She turned back around and looked at Charlie. “I’ll be right back.” Amber pushed the door open still looking back inside the room. She made a right turn and bumped into someone.
“Oh! I’m so- Drew? What are you doing here?”
