Chapter 10 (The Dinner)

"I'm glad you made it, iha. So were complete shall we go to our the dining area. Baka lumamig ang pagkain." Tita Nicole said.

*Dinner Table*

All of us already get food. Habang kumakain nagkwekwentuham kami.

"Steph, I haven't heard recently from you. Tsaka sabi ni Yaya minsan ka na lang pumunta sa bahay namin." I gulp. I'm just eating here. Scarlet look at me with her full of curiosity face.

"Uhm... Tita. We've just been busy po. Right Nich?" I smiled at them.

"Really? But what's with the atmosphere between you two?" asked Scarlet. What the?!

Are you trying to pissed me off Scarlet?

"Yes, Scarlet's right." my mom said.

"Maybe you just misread our actions. Nich and I will never fight. You know that since we are child, r-right?" I answered. Scarlet looked surprised when she heard that 'since child' I used.

"Wait, Steph, you said napadaan ka lang dito kay mo nalaman bahay niya? Ano tong since child, since child?" Scarlet asked.

"Ah, maybe you misunderstood it, iha. Dati pa kasing magkaibigan sila Nich at Steph. Sila nga yung pinaka close eh." pagtatama ni Tita Nicole.

Oh no, is this my last meal? Is this my end?!

"Yes, but pardon me tita, ang sabi kasi ni Steph nalaman niya daw yung bahay niyo dahil napadaan siya. Tinulungan niy daw po one of your maids sa basura," Scarlet said.

I saw Dianne looking at us with a scared face. While Nich still on his calm posture. Seriously Nich?  You look like you didn't care about it all?!

"No way, why would my daughter do that? Am I right Steph?" my mom asked me. I can't even look anyone of them. I already thought millions of schemes to passed this... but... I don't want to lie anymore! But...also... also... I think Nich will never forgive me.

"What?! No, no Scarlet are you out of your mind? Of course, that's only a joke! Don't tell me it got you? Snapped out of it, you ruined our dinner..."

"Stop it, Steph, or you'll be grounded for a month!" my dad cut me off.

"Everyone, I'm sorry for ruining your family dinner. I'm sorry... that I didn't know anything." she sobs while wiping her tears with her bare hands. Then sje get her bag and walk away.

"Look at what have you done Stephannie?!" my dad slaps me.

"Simon," Tito murmered.

I hold back my tears. Act! Just Act! Steph! Please.

"Go and apologize to her. Kahit lumuhod ka pa sa harap niya. Basta mapatawad ka lang niya! You know it's time for you to quit that stupid acting!" he shouts in front of my face.

"Okay," I answered then look to them and goes, "I'm very very sorry,"

Before I Chase Scarlet, my gazed turned to Nich. He didn't even react.

Lumabas ako ng bahay at hinabol si Scarlet. Buti nalang naka heels siya kaya hindi siya makatakbo.

"Scarlet! can you please go back ins-" before I finish the sentence she slaps me.

Wow how the did I do to deserve two slaps for one day?

"Just how dare you to embarrass me in front of them?!" she roars at my face.

A tear dropped in my eye.

"Just please, get back inside," but I still manage to smile.

"So now your using m-" she didn't finish her sentence when I cried.

"I-I can't stop. C-could you pl-please h-help me?" I said trying to wipe my tears off.

"Steph?"

Then I just hugged her. Really tight. I finally gave up. My mask cracks I said this words to her, "I- I d-don't want t-to act..."

"J-just let m-me free." I said sobbing over her shoulder.

She seems shocked from what did I do. To confort me Scarlet patted me from my back until I recovered.

"Sorry, I need to go home.Cn you go back in their house?" I said.

"Wait-"

"Please, do me a favor." I quickly run into our house. Sinalubong ako ng mga Yaya. I acted normal. I said may nakalimutan lang ako.  Then I go straight in my room and changed my clothes into pajamas.

I throw my self to bed. I need to Forget and wear again the mask tomorrow. I don't want to make a big deal about this. And I wish crying over an enemy's shoulder is just a dream.

And no one can remember tonight.

My mind goes this, "I don't want to remember a single thing about the dinner. Sana ako nalang yung manhid. Bahala na nga si Puso diyan bakit ko ba iniisip. Mas lalong nasasaktan si Stephannie,"
