Hudson's POV
It's been two days since we moved in, and so far, I haven't been able to resist Joey. We spend our nights having the most passionate sex of my life, and our days being parents.
I helped Joey pick out her new cars online. She designed the packages she wanted, then Victor took us to pick them up. They have almost every single option imaginable.
The kids are staying with Jake tonight, so I can take Joey out with our friends. When she walked downstairs, she took my breath away, as always.
In front of our kids, I got on one knee and presented her with the ring Mason helped me choose. He agreed to allow me his mothers hand under one condition. I establish paternity, and give him the Engle last name. I told him I would be honored, but we would have to talk to his mother, of course she said yes, and Serenity wanted the same.
We arrived at the lounge, and everyone was already there drinking and having a great time. That is except Julie and Doug, because Julie just gave birth to a daughter.
"Dude, I owe you a massive apology. If I would have known Serenity was your daughter, I would never have said those things." Joel apologized.
"Thanks, but just tell your kid to keep his hands to himself, and we will be just fine," I warned him.
Chloe was loud, and of course, occupied Joey out on the dancefloor. We finally had the opportunity to announce our engagement, and much to our surprise, they all said they want to go along with us to Vegas. Joey offered to pay for everyone's trips, and I knew my parents already planned to go with us. I just regret that I can't get as much time off work as I would like so we can honeymoon.
That night is when we got the call that just may change everything.
"I found our mother, and it's not good." Rob said.
Rob's words hung over me like a dark cloud. I am sure this will be hard for Joey to hear, because she has been tormented for years. One moment she is alive, and the other she is dead, but now it can be laid to rest along with her mother. Rob delivered her ashes that sat in the Beaumont's home as a trophy for years now.
Rob was sent on a wild goose chase, but brought her home the very next day. I'm amazed at Joey's ability to stay strong, but I guess she is used to putting on the brave face.
Our seventeen-year ordeal is finally over, and we can now start our new lives together in peace.
Joey and Jake have been bonding while I work. I'm not on any major case yet, so getting a week off to return Jake to Hannah, and our trip to Vegas is doable.
The twins would travel with my parents to Vegas the day after we leave for D.C.
Joey decided she was okay to go with me to return Jake, which went about as well as I expected.
"Mommy! Angel and daddy are going to get married!" He said, as he got out of the car.
"Well, you don't waste time," Hannah said, with a look of disgust on her face.
"Not now, Hannah. Just let us say our goodbyes, there's no need for us to speak about anything but Jake." I said.
"Like it or not, Hudson, we are linked forever. Every aspect of your life is my business, and I do not approve of the decisions you are making lately."
Joey stood by my side and didn't say a word, Jake had run into the house.
"Let's go," I said, and we started to get into the car. "I'll be back to visit him in about six weeks."
"Says who? There's no time outlined in our agreement in six weeks." She said.
"Hannah, it says we can visit." I argued.
"Not with her you won't, Hudson. She isn't mentioned in the agreement, so come alone, or don't come at all." She said.
My blood was boiling. "She is going to be my wife in a few days. You don't get to dictate when or if she sees Jake. All you're doing is making things harder on that child. You need to accept that she will be his stepmother, and he does enjoy spending time with her, so get over it." I explained.
"I make the rules when it's my time with him, not you. You can come in six weeks, but nobody else."
When did she turn into so much of a bitch?
"We will be back, I'll call him in a few days." Joey and I got into the car and left. My mood was sour, but I have to keep a facade for Joey. The best days of our lives are starting soon, and I will not allow Hannah to ruin it for Joey.
