The ride home with Emily was a little awkward. Ok, fine it was REALLY awkward.
"Is Stiles always that weird?" She asked.
"Pretty much."
"What was that whole 'wolf powers' thing about?" She said, laughing.
"It's nothing. It's an... um inside joke," I lied to her.
"Oh. Tell me about your friend, Isaac."
"You like him?" I asked.
"I never said that!" Emily said, getting defensive and shy.
"Admit it, you do."
"Fine, a little."
"I won't tell him."
When we got home, I paced around my room. How could I keep Emily safe? There was no way she's going to date Isaac. I will not let that happen. That would be one of the most dangerous things for her to do.
Gerard was still out there. If they were dating and he found out, he would kill Emily, no doubt.
I thought about Allison. I was still waiting for her. I'd wait a million years for her. At least school starts tomorrow. I'll get to see her.
My mind wandered to Isaac again. He never finished what he wanted to tell me the other day. He said it was important. It was about something Peter and Derek showed him.
"You alright?" My mom asked in the doorway.
"I'm fine. Big day tomorrow."
"Alright. Just make Emily feel welcomed there."
"I will, mom. I need to keep her safe, too."
Emily's POV
The next morning, I got my classes. I only had one class with Scott. He seemed kind of mad.
"Why are you so mad?"
"Because I need to watch over you."
"Scott, I'm not a four year old. I don't need you to babysit me."
I walked away from him and found my locker. I shoved some books in it and closed my locker. I was surprised when I saw a guy leaning on the locker next to mine, looking at me.
He was attractive. Very attractive. He was perfect. Blonde hair, blue eyes. Jeez, what was with this school and hot guys? There was no one like this at my old school!
He gave a smile.
"Hey, new girl." He said.
"Hey there." I said, making my best attempt to flirt.
"I'm Jackson. You're Scott's cousin, right?"
"Yeah. Why?"
"Just wondering."
He glanced at the paper I was given. It had my classes on it.
"We're in the next class together." He told me.
Suddenly, a girl walked up to us.
"Hi Jackson," she said, forcing a smile at me, "care to introduce us?"
"I'm Emily."
"Lydia." She said, not bothering to shake my hand.
"Shouldn't we getting to class soon?" She said to Jackson.
"Nice meeting you!" Jackson said, as Lydia dragged him down the hall.
Seconds later, Scott walked up to me.
"Stay away from Jackson."
"Why?" I asked him.
"You like him. I can tell. Stay away from him."
"Fine. I'll just go for Isaac then."
"Stay away from Isaac too, Emily. I mean it."
He stared at me and I knew he was serious. He didn't say anything else, and walked away.
