Chapter 20

I woke up this morning in a good mood I turned 21 today even though I already been grown going to clubs and drinking oh well. My phone been ringing non stop with all the birthday wishes but the one person that I want to wish me happy birthday hasn't even called not even a txt. I was in a good mood but that has definitely put a damper on my day. I just dnt get it because Dae is not a person who forgets things we been going out for months now and he even knows the first time we kissed so I cnt see how he would forget my birthday. I hear Deya fussing in the other room she is up . She is almost a year old and she is doing so much already. Hearing her say mama is the best thing in the world.

I love my baby she is a handful .Its a shame her sperm donor dnt see it that way. He used to come get her at first but I guess that was all bullshit just to get to me. That nigga is such a loser I cnt even remember why I ever liked him. Just the thought of it makes me cringe. Oh well I did it so now I got to live with it. I'm bout to go pick up my check I've been working overtime so it should be pretty nice.

I got my baby fed and dressed and ready to go. I called Dae again no answer, I text him no response. This is crazy maybe he is in the gym or sleep or something. I usually get a good morning text so this just doesn't seem right. I try to brush it off, I gotta focus on the road.

I get to my job and grab Deya out her car seat and head to the front desk to get my money. "Hey Jenny I came to get my check"

"Hey Renae you got to pick it up from the office"

"When did this start"

"I dnt know girl I'm just the messenger." I knock on my bosses door and she answers.

"Come on in and have a seat" What is going on I never had to do this before. I can't wait to hear what this is all about.

"I wanted to talk to you one on one. We really appreciate the work you do here. You have been a good asset to this company but unfortunately we have lost a lot of residents and we have to do cut backs. I'm regretful to tell you we are going to have to let you go"

She is still talking and I'm jus sitting there in shock I didn't hear anything else she said all I could hear echoing was WE HAVE TO LET YOU GO. I snap back to reality when she gets up to shake my hand, I dnt even give her my hand I jus pick up my daughter and walk out the door. Someone tried to speak to me but I didn't even hear them I was just focused on getting to my car.

I cnt believe this bullshit all I have done for this company and that's it Its over what the hell I'm supposed to do now. I didn't get a chance to save much money because I wasn't expecting this I got A couple thousand saved up enough to cover my rent and bills for this month and maybe rent for next month. Fired on my damn birthday happy freaking birthday to me. I cnt get in contact with my man, I lost my job what's next.

I get back to my house and call my mother to tell her she was just as shocked as I was.

"Las one hired, first one fired baby dats how dey do you."

"I'm so pissed mumny what Am I going to do"

"Come on over here bring me my baby and we can talk ok."

"Thanks mummy" I'm just laying on my bed staring up at the ceiling while Deya plays on the floor. Why me why today.I pick up the phone to call Dajon but I change my mind. Shit he knows I called I love him and all but Nae dnt sweat no nigga. My phone rings and its Shauna .

"Re Re we getting it in tonight right cause its ya birthday its ya birthday .we gone party like its ya birthday cause it is ya birthday"
