I am so so sorry for not updating. Please give the new chapter a read!
Godric's face is sheepish. Mine, I'm sure is different. I am hopeful that he still remembers me from his time on the surface, and that his time in the pit has not corrupted his way of thought.
His lips, dry and small, are set in a straight line while talking with Cillian. His blonde hair, closely cropped to his head, is lighter and seem almost colorless. His eyes, which were once a bright green, are dull and lifeless.
His frame looks physically stronger, as if he had trained for years. He was rather scrawny when he was still on the surface, although perhaps he was just so young when he disappeared. He looks drained, but nevertheless his eyes brighten when he looks at my face.
He doesn't move forward, however. He remains rooted in his place.
Cillian chuckles as he shakes Godric's hand.
"My my. What a touching reunion. Tell me, does it bother you that your brother is working for your enemy?" Cillian questions, letting his hand drop to his sides as a cynical smile takes over his broad face. His eyes glint dangerously as looks for another relationship to manipulate.
I growl lowly, reminding him to stay in his limits. Godric steps forward and brings out his hand to shake.
I appreciate the gesture. I wasn't too sure how I would react to Godric if he had hugged me. Despite all the years that I have passed as Alpha, a part of me still resents the fact that he left me alone up there. It wasn't my duty to be Alpha. It was his duty, his part to fulfil. I hadn't known a day of feeling like I was meant to be an Alpha.
I shake his hand, marveling at how his hands are still as soft as the ones that used to braid my hair when I was a child.
"You have to come with me. We don't have much time." Godric instructs me urgently, and swiftly nods at Cillian who winks at me.
"Don't forget our little deal, Alpha. I'll be there to collect it when I'm ready."

I am now sure Seth planned this whole thing, along with Cillian and Godric.
However, I am not too sure if this is just another trick that he has planned for me. I don't think that after the horrors I had to undergo in the pit, I could ever be able to trust my own mate, much less my brother who seems to be working for the man who wants to destroy my pack.
The pit has a little rickety boat and a river flowing through one dark tunnel. Godric looks unsurely at the wooden boat. Understandably, the boat doesn't look like it can hold my weight, let alone including Godric's.
"Are you sure about this?" I ask Godric, who shakes his head and moves into the bobbing boat anyways. It bobs more, splashing dark, murky water near my feet. There is hardly any light in the tunnel, save for a few flames hung by travelers. The waters, however, are calm, providing me with some respite.
Taking a deep breath, I set my foot on the board, grabbing an oar.
Godric kicks on the ledge, making the boat bob forward. I immediately start oaring, along with Godric, who grunts with every movement. The water was thick, but still liquid enough to move through.
Cillian's whistle makes me snap my head back to meet his glinting eyes.
"Till we meet again, Alpha."
----
The waters got more transparent as we progressed. There were no branches to this river, given the fact that we were still in a tunnel, although it had widened considerably. In a few minutes, we were going to see daylight.
Although the ride was more or less pleasant (at least, compared to what had happened in the pit), the uncomfortable silence between my brother and I had made me wonder if I should try swimming out.
Godric's eyes wouldn't meet mine, which were angry and accusatory. A talk was obviously on the cards, considering he hadn't justified why he had never sent word. Moreover, he hadn't explained the situation with Romina, the Alpha of Magic- or how he had been with Seth.
"Romina still cries for you, Godric. Did you know that?" I said quietly, looking at his obscured face. His eyes were cast downwards, indicating his shame and discomfort. I, however, was done being considerate.
"She came to see me, once. It nearly killed her. After that, I told her never to see me again. You see, Dayla, the Council of the Wise has never liked transgressors. They want unquestionable order, and we stand for everything but."
Of course, the Council of the Wise exercised utmost authority over all packs. They were the wisest of all among of us, who were prescribed with protecting the structure and nature of the packs. Chaos and rebellion, according to them, were a threat to society as we know it.
It was on their authority, that my father had cast the rebels under the ground- which soon, ironically, became the Chaos Pack. It was loosely defined, with punishment for only the most serious crimes. Of course, as wolves, a pack mentality was ingrained in every creature. However, there were some who disagreed over the degree of hierarchical structures.
"The Council of the Wise is the only thing protecting us from violence and disorder. They keep the peace." I defended. Godric's mind has been twisted from all these years beneath the ground.
"The Council of the Wise holds prisoners who dissent. They hold and kill those who question their authority. Children of those prisoners are sent to re-education camps, where they run risk of being killed if their methods of re-education don't work on them." Godric hissed, eyes blazing with fury.
"If you think for one second that I'm going to believe this-"
"Where do you think this boat is going, Dayla? Do you think it's going back home? We're going where the truth is. We'll meet your mate there." Godric whispered angrily, making my eyes widen.
He chuckles darkly, making me rethink my decision to agree with Cillian and Godric.
"The monster is in your backyard, Dayla. What are you going to do about it?"
--
Let me start of by saying that I am extremely sorry for the way I left you all without even telling you what was up. The fact is that I have no excuse, except for the fact that I was just taking the time off for my own mental health. It hasn't been a good two years, but quarantine has given me the chance to catch up on this story and plan ahead of schedule.
I am also extremely proud to tell you all that Dayla has hit 15k+ views while I wasn't here. For that, I am very grateful. Thank you to those who still stuck around!
I'm going to keep updating this story, especially since I have loads of time now.
