Romina's confession leaves me frazzled for a moment. I'm completely thrown off of my feet, as I realise that this situation has just gotten a lot more complicated. A powerful Alpha like Romina couldn't and shouldn't have left my brother. It makes sense as to why she would try to prevent this from coming out in the first place.

Mates.

They're mates. And I never even knew.

"Dayla, please say something." Romina pleaded with me, grasping my hand tightly. I see tears in her eyes and I see just how vulnerable she is. Not having her half would have taken a huge toll on her.

But my mind has chosen to ignore this relevant piece of information, because it doesn't matter right now. What matters is that he's alive, and I'm going to get him back.

"Romina. Your pack is the only pack which can practice magic. When I went to Brenner, there was a girl over there. She was wearing dark clothes- and she had dark hair as well. I remember something distinctive about her... her eyes- they were almost like a kaleidoscope. Really blue, but green and yellow in there as well. And... there was a mark by the side of her hand. Maybe a scar?" I ramble on, not caring if I look like a fumbling idiot right now.

Romina stays quiet. I notice that her face is sympathetic. I hate that expression. It makes me feel helpless.

"Are you sure, Dayla?" She asks softly.

My expression mirrors that of a glass- just hanging there, not breaking but not strong either. And I look at her.

"I know what I saw, Alpha."

Romina sighs, and rubs her head. Her shawl drapes over her shoulders, and only now do I notice that it has intricate designs on it- signs of battle with other packs in the past, little wisps of mist here and there.

"Then, you should know that no one from my pack has ventured out in the past few months. They have to seek my permission. And those eyes you described, Dayla? I've only seen those kind of eyes once in my life. They have to be the eyes of Seth."

The meeting finished as it was time for all of the leaders to go back to their respective packs. I was stuck in mine, trying to figure out if Seth was really here of if my mind was playing tricks on me. The dark surroundings envelop me as I walk through the road back to my house.

So, Romina had seen Seth before and the question now begs it's presence: did she purposefully leave my brother over there or is there something more sinister going on?

The truth was that it didn't matter. My brother made his choice of leaving the pack and he has to atone for it now. I can't sit by the side and worry about a family member who may never come back, ever. Lord knows if he has fallen in the trap of the deceptive Seth.

I sigh as I reach my house. The door opens when I push it, and its dark inside, just as I am used to it. I don't hear anyone bustling outside on the street which prompts me to think that  it's unusually quiet and eerie.

I don't bother switching on the lights and I move tiredly, climbing the stairs with a laboured breath. I am also very drab today, only slogging through the activities that I had planned.

I move into my room, noticing the glow of the moonlight which just enhances the corners of the room. A sudden fear passes over me. I gaze over all of the furniture, trying to remember if it was  just how I left it. I sigh in relief when I switch on the light and everything looks normal, so I move inside the bathroom.
