Chapter 16

I quickly look around myself. Then I think to what Hamilton told me. There are people watching me right now. They can see all I've done and all I'm going to do. I'm their lab rat they're running this thing. "Hello?" I call to the open space around me. I jump when I hear a strange, deep voice reply.
"We're here." I look down at the watch on my wrist and put my hand on it- it's warm. Then comes a soft, orange glow from it.
"What's wrong with my watch?" I ask faintly to nothing in particular. All of a sudden, there's a face on it,blurry, but I can see it. "Who are you?" I continue.
"My name is Dr. Howell." He says. "I'm a doctor."
"Oh really?I thought you were zookeeper." I say sarcastically. "Well, I'm actually a doctor."he continues. I roll my eyes as the face comes into focus.
"You're right, we can ear everything you say and think"he says.
"You can hear my thoughts?!"I shriek.
"Shh!"he says.
"I'm talking to you through an earpiece! Not so loud!"
"Sorry..." I whisper, holding my wrist up to my mouth.
"Can you see me?"I ask. Dr. Howell asks "Are you hungry?"
I hear him click a few buttons then, out of nowhere, a piece of bread comes floating down from the sky. "Woah"I say. "Thanks."
"My pleasure."
"So...are you like, my helper or something?"I ask breaking the silence. Dr. Howell just laughs.
"I'm the exact opposite"
"But, Leslie isn't here at the moment so I can be nice and help you"he continues.
"Why can't you help me when she's around?"I ask.
"Because she trained us for doing evil things."he says. Wow, I think. "How?"I ask.
"Well, if we knew,don't ya think we'd have tried to stop her by now?"he asks. I just shrug my shoulders. "I don't know."
"Well, trust me. We would have. We all have families, and she kidnapped us like she did you. She tortured us until we would agree to call our wives and children and husbands to tell them we didn't care anymore.To tell them we found better than what they could give us." He says. I watch a tear fall from his eyes. He chuckles to himself. "You have no idea... How long we've been trapped here... No idea"
"I-I'm sorry. So, so sorry."I stammer.
"No- it isn't your fault."he says.
"I know but, I still feel sorry."I say. Dr. Howell wipes his eyes.
"Don't worry, we'll find a way to stop her."he says. I look up.
"Stop her from doing what?" I ask "To stop her from using people like you of course!" He says
"What do you mean people like me?"I ask.
"You see, she kidnaps people and uses them to do her dirty work for her. She is evil."
"So, you mean that I'm just one of the people she's used for this experiment?" I ask
"Oh yes.She has used hundreds of people! Mostly males she believes females would figure out her little scheme too quickly. Even though I don't know why."He says. Hundreds? I think. Why would it take hundreds of people to find one person?
"Well, then, who the heck is O.F?" I ask.
"O.F?"He says, astonished.
"Her sister."
