Angie was watching everyone, laughing, joking, just all our having fun. She knew that she should've been out there, but for some reason, James' question was still bugging her. Why would he care what me and my family think about witches and wizards? Why does that matter? And they way he had said that his family liked that stuff, but with no specifics. It bugged her. But... she liked him. She thought that he liked her. Did he?
She was broken from her thoughts. "Earth to Angie!" Vic's voice called.
"Oh, oh, yeah, what's up?"
"Are you gonna hide in here until the party's over, or are you going to finally join us again?"
"Yeah, I'll come back out, sorry. Just... thinking."
Vic eyed her weirdly, then grabbed her wrist and dragged her back outside, under the canopy of the tent.
The rest of the party was fun. James opened gifts from guests, but family ones were for later. Angie had been told by the Weasley's and Potter's that she was not to get James a present. Besides, she didn't know him as well as those who were expected to bring gifts. She had planned on getting him something anyways, but found herself stuck no matter where she went, and went along with what everyone else had told her.
At the end of the party, James brought her upstairs, into Vic's temporary room.
"Thanks for coming. I know we still aren't super close, but... it was nice. I mean, cool. I mean..."
Angie, without thinking, rose up onto her toes, and gave him a soft, fast kiss on the cheek. She was blushing fiercely, but was glad to see James had shut up and that he was the same way. "I know what you mean."
They both laughed uncomfortably, and Angie grabbed the little that she had brought for the night before. She headed outside, and Vic drove her home.
"See you at dance tomorrow!" Vic called. Angie waved, and headed back inside.
