2 years. That's how long Betty had been apart of their gang these guys had. Going to games, going to Pop's with the lot, being a shoulder to cry on, seeing all the stuff that goes down, the parties, celebrations, the fights. All of it. They were like family to her.

The guys all adore Betty. Betty was always with Archie, Jughead and Kevin. Cause she was best friends with Veronica, she was even in a few Pussycat performances.

Her best friend was Archie. And by that, I mean they only saw each other as best friends.

Betty and Jughead? Man. She was infatuated. Everything he did impressed her. She was always admiring him, wishing she could just run up and kiss him.

Betty was always trying to impress Jughead. Wearing nicer clothes, doing her hair and makeup she he was there. giggling more, even when nothing was that funny.

But Jughead had eyes for a completely different girl.

Every party ended the same. Betty trying to impress Jughead, Jughead not noticing, and Betty going home with Archie as they were neighbours, crying on his shoulder.

When the New Years party came, Betty was finally ready to make her move. It was dumb to just ope he noticed her. She needed to do something.

Just before midnight, Betty stood close to Jughead, who wasn't paying any mind to her, and built up the guts to kiss him. When midnight hit, she turned to make her move, but Jughead was already kissing someone.

And with that, Betty left broken hearted.

All this time she tried to get him to notice  her, every slight touch, every laugh, everything. Gone. Her fragile heart was broken by some tall raven haired boy.

After going home and spending some time on the couch crying into a glass of alcohol and drinking far too much, she passed out on the couch without hearing her phone buzz about 18 times from Archie trying to call her.

Thats how the next week went. Betty sitting on the couch, barely eating, sleeping too much and scrolling through her social media feeds.

'Everyones happy when you aren't there'

Theres that voice again

'Look, Jug has a girlfriend now. You aren't good enough for anyone.'

Her phone lit up with Archie's contact as he was calling for the 3rd time today.

She ignored him again.

'See how happy Kevin is too? And look at Ronnie's smile. They're better off when you're not there.'

shut up.

'You know its true.'

Archie hasn't posted all week.

'You won't answer him. You're too scared. You're hurting his feelings you little bitch.'

I know.

'better off without you.'

'without you.'

The little voice was right.

Betty got the strength to go to the bathroom and rummage through her pills. The pills she hasn't taken properly for a week or so now.

Finding the antidepressants, she began to start crying harder, not realising she had been already. Her eyes were so red and puffy and her thought felt like she'd swallowed razors.

Her hands shook as she tried to open the bottle.

'without you.'

Everything was aching.

She wanted it to be over.

She figured that nobody cared anyway.

But what she didn't know was that Archie was walking up the street to her house. After not seeing Betty for a whole week and not hearing from his best friend, he knew he had to go and check on her. He had seen her face drop when Jug kissed the brunette at the party. Archie knew she'd be heartbroken.

For some reason he wished he'd kissed her tat night. Something was telling him to, but shed always had a thing for Jughead, not him, right? He just knew he cared for Betty more than anyone on earth.

So when he opened her front door and heard whimpers coming from upstairs, he darted up to the bathroom.

Seeing his best friend , the only person that had made his heart race the way she does, trying to open a bottle of pills, it shattered his heart.

He snatched the bottle from her hands and threw it across the room. Wrapping his arms around the messy girl that clearly hadn't been taking care if herself, he rubbed her back, holding her as tight as he could without hurting her.

"Im so so sorry." she kept whispering over and over sobbing, into his chest.

"Stop apologising. Its okay. You're okay. We can fix this. Im here, I won't leave you again. Im right here" he continued telling her how much she meant to him, how much he's missed her, and how he wouldn't know what to do if he lost her....for good.

"I love you Elizabeth. I mean that."

They pulled out of the embrace, Archie wiping the tears from Betty's face, not realising he had some pf his own on his face too.

"I love you too, Archie."

"We can get you back to being okay." he started, rubbing her arm.

"Are you sure?'

"100%. Im never leaving your side."

"Thank you...." she melted into his arms again, crying even more.

Archie helped her up off the bathroom floor, and into the shower. Neither of them cared that he was seeing her naked, it didn't matter.

He got her into her pyjamas, made her some tea, and laid with er in her bed, where she hadn't been in a week.

He began to tell her how everyone missed her and would ask him each day where she was.

"Im so stupid-" she began.

"No. You're human. Its okay." he reassured her.

She fell asleep on his chest and thanked the stars that he walked in without knocking that day.

She was truly the best thing in his life.

And he was going to prove that to her every single day from here on out.
