“Nylon, you’re going home” my caretaker smiled. Something I couldn’t bring myself to do.
I sucked my lips in and exhaled, “thanks”
She nodded and scurried out to deal with a screaming patient.
I exited my room and saw my mother but a baby in an orbit stroller. I knew that was my child and the feeling rushed over me; bitter sweetness. But as a mother, I can’t hold my troubles against her.
I walked up to them and stared at my mom blankly, “I’m ready” I took the stroller from her.
“Hi, my precious. You’re so cute and you have so much hair. Yes, I’m your mommy” I smiled at her, using a childish voice. Sephora kicked and giggled, drooling all over.
“You’re a natural” my mom rubbed my back.
I stood up straight, “yeah, can we go home now?” I said looking at Sephora.
“Of course” she began walking out and I followed pushing the stroller out. The snow let up and the January weather definitely began to kick in.
I pushed the stroller near the trunk of the Cadillac and opened it. I unhooked the car seat and placed the stroller in the trunk.
“It’s crazy watching you be so independent.” my mom murmured.
“It’s crazy” I mocked, to myself.
