I had just place Sephora in her crib when my mother walked in.
“Yes?” I sat on my bed twisting the television remote in my hand.
“I have some explaining to do” she wiped her eyes.
“Really? No, you actually don’t. I went through it, remember?” I raised my eyebrows.
“Just listen. When your father passed I had no one to turn too. His siblings were in a state of depression, along with his mother. He brought light into their lives -”
“Yeah, he brought light into my life too. Now I’m lightless” I rolled my eyes.
“I know, Nylon. But then I brought my brother here to watch you while I was working trying to afford all this. Getting this villa was work. I was barely home to even notice what was going on but when he...that night...I was furious. I wished you told me something.”
“What? This is my fault? You’re pressuring me into talking about this! I’m I -” I began having heavy flashbacks. I began sweating, trembling, and crying uncontrollably. His hands ran up me and down.
“Nylon! Oh my God!” she cried.
“Nylon, strip!” he ordered.
I did as I was told in fear he’d take two hours instead of one but nothing was guaranteed with him.
He forced me on the bed and through the house as tears and pain rushed through my body. When we got to my mother’s room he pushed me on the balcony and that was my chance I kicked him hard and pushed him off.
“I’m forever in your head and your body” he yelled before his skull made contact with the Earth.
