* the soulmates thing worked like this: one had the name of their other half on the wrist, while the other one had no idea who person was meant to be theirs
* the two - whether they had the name or not - were supposed to feel a strong connection as soon as they looked at one another's eyes
* but there were cases - rare, but there were - of people who didn't have the name on their wrist who never got to feel that special bond with their soulmates
* you were born with nothing written on your wrist, which had always made you a little worried. What if you woudn't feel the connection? Of course it was rare, but it could happen to anyone, including you
* after all that would happen, you'd be grateful that you weren't the one bearing the name on your wrist
* you were from Auradon, your parents would have freak out if the name "Carlos De Vil" was on your wrist
* things would have been a little easier for you, though
* you always wanted to know who your soulmate was, being in love with the idea of having someone else made just for you
* until the day you met a boy who had your name on his wrist
* you were so excited about the idea of having found "the one" that you thought you had felt the connection between the two of you... But then he turned out to be a real jerk
* in the end, you found out that he wasn't your soulmate, he really was just a guy who had become a bit too obsessed with you to the point of tattooing your name on his wrist
* after that you stopped looking for the right person
* although you still had the hope that they would find you one day
* Carlos had never had much luck with this soulmate thing either
* he grew up with the name "(Y/N) (Y/L/N)" on his wrist, knowing that it was the name of the person made for him
* but he had no idea who the hell that person was
* and that there were chances that maybe they wouldn't feel that connection to him
* it was frustrating
* the best thing he could do was not think about it
* even though deep down, he just wanted to meet his special person
* it would make him forget about the problems he had on the Isle
* and it would be nice to have a chance to be truly loved by someone
* he hadn't even thought about the possibility of you being a Auradon girl, just as you didn't expect him to be one of the VKs who had come to Auradon Prep that year
* of course you knew that they were coming to Auradon from the start, but you didn't see them so often around school
* the first time you saw Carlos was in the Tourney field
* you were sitting on the bleachers reading something when you heard screams and dog barks, which you assumed were from Dude
* and then you saw Carlos running from the dog as if his life depended on it
* "Weird, but I think this is just another day at Auradon Prep."
* you didn't give it much thought until the second time you saw him - now being the first time he noticed you
* Your friend Jane said that she needed to talk to her mother, but that she would be teaching Remedial Goodness 101 to the VKs at that time and the girl didn't want to go alone. So you, as a good friend, went with her. You weren't so excited about meeting them, but if you didn't go, Jane would probably have a heart attack while walking by them. What had happened was only a little different from that, since the girl still looked terrified as she passed them, heading quickly to her mother.
You did your best not to laugh as the Fairy Godmother introduced Jane to them, making the girl's eyes widen in panic.
"Oh (Y/N), I hadn't seen you there." Fairy Godmother cheerfully said. "That's Jane's friend, (Y/N)."
As they turned to look at you at the door, your eyes met Carlos's, and both of you felt your hearts skip a beat, feeling a sudden attraction for each other. You gave him a shy smile, not missing the intense way he looked at you. You both knew what it was, what it meant, the connection.
