chapter 3: scary

Walking to the store late at night was never ideal. But when it came to buying important medication that was desperately needed, that happened to be the only option. Of course, [Y/N] didn't have the common sense to take someone with her when walking alone in the depths of the dark, so she relied on the strength of her quirk if someone happened to attack her. After all, it was night, so no one was bold enough to report someone who used their quirk illegally.

The street lights flickered, small bugs surrounding the bulb. [Y/N] gazed outward towards the ocean, watching as the waves bounced and shifted along the sands, such a beautiful light color casting over the waters. The tides seemed to be pulling towards the moon.

A few cars passed from time to time, but [Y/N] didn't mind. They had their own business to attend to, as did she.

When walking, she always kept her hand in her jacket pocket where her phone was, ready to dial 911 if needed. And with the person following her, she knew that she had to keep her phone in check.

Yes, she could feel someone following her. It was an odd sensation that sparked her interest, but everytime she turned around, the shadow that was once underneath the light had always disappeared in thin air. It made her shiver, goosebumps trailing across her arms and legs, a small breeze beginning to drift in.

"Hey, I don't bite," [Y/N] said, turning around to face the shadow. To her surprise, it stayed still, red gleaming eyes protruding out of their hoodie. By their stature and slim body, she could tell that it was a male. "Is there something you need?"

The male shook their head, pulling their hood down to reveal a head of blue hair. Their lips were disgustingly cracked and their eyes held a harsh sense of hostility. [Y/N] couldn't exactly decipher what they were feeling, which was odd in itself since everyone usually showed a certain emotion, whether it be boredom or sadness. And she happened to be a great reader of emotions.

"Am I scary to you?" they asked.

"No, not really. I mean, that's not immediately what I thought when I saw you." she responded. Now, a look of shock was present on his face, and his grip on his jacket loosened slightly. He wasn't as tense as he was before, which was a good thing.

"Ah, okay," he whispered, scratching the back of his neck. He seemed confused, like he was expecting the opposite answer.

"Why were you following me?" asked [Y/N].

He seemed to tense once more at this question, almost as if he didn't have an answer or reason. He seemed to contemplate for a moment. "My home is this way."
