chapter 9: fears and greetings

It was over, the fight had ended and everyone seemed to be at peace. Everyone, except for Bakugou. He raged on the inside, thoughts swirling like a vanilla milkshake. They swarmed his head like an army of bees, stinging him to no end. He had lost. He had lost to Deku, [Y/N], whoever the other girl was. His partner, Iida, was of no use. So, what did this mean? Was he truly weak, was he someone who didn't deserve to be a hero?
If he couldn't beat Deku, what was his use?
Staring at the crumbling bodies before him, those words repeated in his head like an alarm clock ringing consistently. It was consuming his minutes, seconds. "Hero team, wins." Those three words, forever haunting his waking moments.
[Y/N] sat up slowly, groaning in immense pain. The crackles in her bones could be heard from miles away as she stood, wobbling from side-to-side. She bumped into the wall while walking before collapsing once more, eyes drifting. Her pupils became increasingly smaller, and soon enough, her eyes rolled to the back of her head, signifying that she had passed out. Bakugou watched as she suffered, knowing he did that. Though, he didn't feel as proud as he supposedly should've felt. He felt remorse, slight shame, and empathy for the poor girl. At some point, he even felt some empathy for the broken green haired boy laying down as well, but he didn't show it, nor did he acknowledge it.
He didn't acknowledge a lot of things, like how people used him for power or protection. Though he didn't mind if that was the case either way. Power? He'd hand it over in a millisecond in exchange for your soul. Protection? He'd give it away for free, after all he was an upcoming hero. Not without a few grunts of protest of course, after all, that was Bakugou Katsuki.

Hours passed, minutes wavered, and seconds fluttered by like a howling wind. Yuuei had a comfortable nursing office, [Y/N] wouldn't lie, and she had enjoyed the old ladies company even more when entering. The kisses to her forehead and broken bones felt like heaven on earth, and she felt relieved that she'd be able to sleep the day away, though she did want to see more fights.
She wondered, how would Todoroki fight, what were his quirks? Maybe one day she'd figure it out, but for now, his whole presence was a mystery. Not that she minded, mystery people are more interesting than others that are readable. The whole fascination of having to figure everything out yourself and piece things together like a puzzle is so time consuming that its enjoyable, at least, that's how [Y/N] feels.
It was now the afternoon, and school sure did end with a bang. It was only the first week, and they had already experienced so much pain and misery, it was like entering Fear Factor, but with educational purposes on the screen. [Y/N] slowly rose from her bed, stretching with haste. She wanted to get out of the school, it was starting to suffocate her. The air was thick, and the drama made everything so tense. She thought intently at that moment, wondering if she'd survive the fall from the window of the nursing office. Deciding that it'd be better not to risk it, she left the office, seeing as Midoriya had already made his way to the classroom.
Entering the classroom was like entering another holocaust, it felt like death and torture. Everyone smelled like sweat, their foreheads glistening with the salty liquid. When opening the doors, she was immediately stomped on and trampled for her performance.
"That was incredibly manly, you fought Bakugou like he was a real villain!" The red haired male shouted, waving his hands frantically for attention. [Y/N] grimaced, wondering if she had portrayed an image of Bakugou being a villain, even though he had already done that himself. The red haired boy continued with an introduction, "The names Kirishima, it's nice to finally meet such a manly woman like you!"
[Y/N] smiled coyly, shaking the manly mans hand. He seemed nice enough, but he also portrayed the type that would speak before thinking. She liked that in a person, brutal honesty is the best honesty, even if it hurts.
A few other notable classmates came up to the female and congratulated her on the fight, smiles spreading infectiously. It was nice to see everyone bonding over fighting and possible bloodshed. The desire to become a hero really is something, huh?
[Y/N] had also noted that Bakugou and Midoriya were absent, but she knew what they were most likely doing. Arguing, Midoriya trying to be nice while Bakugou shits on him. It was the norm sadly enough. Their fate was to be rivals, maybe even a team if they tried hard enough.
And who was she to change fate?
