It's Sunday and I feel like visiting home after church. It has been a very eventful week and I need a hideout to chill. I just wish that I didn't have to see my mum and sister, yet I miss them and they are the reason I want to go home. Irrespective of how much they bug me, I love them to the moon and back.Church is boring and filled with routines as usual and when the service is over, I go to my crib to switch clothes, transfer some money to Esther through mobile banking because there is no escaping death if I went home without sending her something. She calls the moment I get a debit alert.
"You're coming home today, aren't you? That's the reason you sent me the money. Well, you did yourself some good because I was planning on having your head for dinner."
"You are welcome."
"Anyways, mum is mouthing to me that you should get fruits on your way home. I guess she wants to make her yummy fruit salad."
"Got it, see you lat..."
Click!
"I get to hang up, idiot."
How nice. I am bullied by my younger sister. Very nice!
I go to the grocery store two blocks away and get a variety of fruits: Apples, bananas, pineapples, oranges, cucumbers, water melon and I even bought coconuts. I know its no conventional fruit but my mum loves them and I love them better when they are used to cook coconut rice.
I am actually hoping she cooks that which is why I bought them. For added effect, I bought some kitchen supplies for the house. I really hope I get as much as a thank you for all this.
On my way to the house, I call Ibrahim. Just felt like talking to him.
"Hey bro, whats up?" He speaks up first.
"Nothing much, you?"
"Just chilling at home. Did you go to church?"
"You never ask me that and why are you sounding all tensed?"
"Me, tensed? That's incredulous. Where are you?"
"Going over to the family's house."
"Oh, and you didn't bother to let me know. You do know that no matter how much space you try to put between I and your sister, I'll have her someday and make sure you don't attend the wedding."
"Not all wishes come true. I hear a familiar voice in the background."
"Who's there with you?"
"Here? No one, no ones here. I'm all alone."
"Hmm. Ibrahim, you have a girl in that house. I'm pretty certain of it."
"A girl? No, I mean yes, one of my chicks, you know."
"Whatever, talk to you later."
"Yea, say me hi to...."
"Your grandmother."
You know I wonder what his problem is with ladies. He never seems to get tired of them no matter how many he has access to. Or is it normal for guys to always feel that way?
But I don't experience that.
I've only dated once in my life, had sex twice, both of which I didn't enjoy because I was literarily forced into them.
The first time was when Ibrahim made me do it. Remember when he talked about it during the Best friend Tag and the second was when I dated Sade back then in the university.
Of all my life's experiences, that with Sade is one of the worst.
We got into a relationship by popular demand. People- mostly our course mates- said I was hot and she was single. They drove home the idea that we should go out and even planned a blind date for the both of us.
